One More Trade....?
I think the Jennings deal shows that Joe D is trying to build a roster to compete this year. I clearly think he is trying to make this team playoff bound so the loss of the 2014 pick is potential lotto pick. My main concern (or need) left for this team would be a back-up for Drummond to play 10 minutes a game. I know a lot of you want Monroe to back-up Drummond but I want the two on the court on the same time. I'm not interested in guys nobody wants like Cole Aldrich. I was looking at what the Pistons have left to deal and feel that Singler would be a perfect trade asset to get a back-up Center. I don't think he seems many minutes next year with Datome a better fit at the back-up 3 spot with his range and shooting ability. Doesn't anyone know what Joe D could get back-up C wise for Singler? I've been trying to figure this out but can't quite get there. I'd love Meyers Leonard but just think Portland would do that type of move. Can you guys help me out? I know a lot of you want to do a signing but I feel a trade works out better while getting a guy long term since we have no pick next year. Thoughts and insights?

I'd honestly be fine if we stood pat until the deadline. We could make a nice move with the CV stuckey contracts.

Re: One More Trade....?
Our frontcourt depth chart will have Smith, Monroe, and Drummond as the starters. I think the 1st sub will often be a SF to slide Smith over while subbing out Greg or Andre. After that I think you are going to see a lot of those 3 as the primary 4/5s. Smith will rotate between 3 and 4. Villanueva and Jebreko will get spot time.
Between the 4 and 5 spots there are 96 minutes to go around. Monroe should get around 35, Drummond 28-32, Smith should play about 15 or so. Going with the small numbers, thats 78 out of the 96 minutes. 18 left for other guys.
We don't need a name to bring in. Like it or not we are replacing Krastovs 224 minutes last season. Camp invite a few bigs including Cole Aldrich and Lou Amundson. If either one actually makes the team, yippee?

I'd really like to see us do Stuckey/Jerebko/Singler for Okafor. That gives us our backup big, clears some salary off the summer '14 cap and allows us to sign a vet natural 2 (cough Rip Hamilton cough) to put in a rotation with KCP.
I'd love to see some new school/old school backcourt pairings with KCP-Jennings and Rip-CB

If, and only if we can flip Monroe + expiring contracts into a Kevin Love or a Brook Lopez, then major moves wise, we're done...minor moves maybe we will trade expiring into solid role players off the bench

Magic board guy here.....
Would you guys entertain an offer revolved around AA? He's a proven serviceable 3 and D guy and it seems like that is exactly what would fill the gap in the starting lineup. If Smith slid to 4 he can also fill in at 3 depending on the lineup.
thoughts?

I'd love to take AA. Good defender and shooter. I was mad that we ended up trading him after the 09 season. A Stuckey for Arron Afflalo would work for both ends I think. Stuckey would come off the books for Orlando this up coming off season and Detroit would get the shooting guard they are lacking.

I'm sure Dumars would entertain that offer. But, it would greatly depend on price, and what Joe's plans are for next season. If Dumars plans to give Monroe the max, and go after another near-max type player, he won't want AA, because he will eliminate what cap space the team will have next summer. That's considering that Stuckey is the main player heading out to Orlando. And, in that case, I don't know if Orlando has any interest?

I would for the right price. But Joe D has lined things up pretty nicely at this point. Jennings contract is done when Drummond is due for an extension. We have Stuckey/CV expirings worth 17 mil for when Monroe is due for an extension. Josh Smith will be an expiring when Drummond is due for an extension. When I look at it all, Joe D seems to have set it up brilliantly.
I'd do a Stuckey/Afflalo swap, you get an expiring and Oladipo can step in and develop day 1, we get Afflalo. Not sure if Orlando would be interested in that though.

Re: One More Trade....?
I feel like for us to make it out of the first round we need another big and a very good starting SG.
C:Dre/Moose
PF:Monroe/Smith/Mitchel or Jonas or CV
SF:Smith/Luigi or Singler
SG:????/KCP
PG:Jennings/Billups/Bynum
We need a better quality big that can take any minutes not taken by Dre/Moose/Smith up front (unless Jonas, CV or Mitchell are good enough to fill that role and help the team win)... and we need a wing player that can start at SG and hopefully play some backup SF if need be.
Getting Gay + Amir from Toronto for CV, Stuckey, Singler, + future first might be ideal and make us legit contenders.... or getting Afflalo + Glen Davis from Orlando could be good for us also. Just seems like we need another big who can play center..... preferably someone who can shoot from 10-15 feet.

Well, I know there aren't a TON of 2014 FA's so not sure hot enticing the Stuckey expiring would be to Hennigan but IMO it works for us just fine. It would suck for stuckey because he would go from potentially starting in detroit to getting MAYBE 20 minutes a game in Orlando.
I like it though because Aaron NEEDS to start IMO to play right and moving him to detroit would open up PT for Oladipo.
Jennings
Afflalo
Smith
Monroe
Drummond
6th-Billups
Is a top 4 team in the east IMO.
Would also allow them to play small with
Jennings
Billups
Afflalo
Smith
Drummond/Monroe
Which is also a pretty sick small lineup.
AA for Stuckey+future 1st? Is throwing in the 1st too much? I mean AA is clearly a better starting SG but a lot of teams could chase Stuckey as an expiring. Hmmmm

Magic should go all in for some big FA's to add to a top 3 pick next year and Harris/Oladipo... There are a ton of FA's in 2014 and if Orlando was smart they'd clear capspace for 2 max players to join up together just incase they could land a big combo like Miami did.
They could be a very enticing place to go play for both with young talent, and weather/taxes.

I'm pretty sure the Pistons are holding out for bigger fish than Afflalo. We have $17 million in 2 expiring contracts. With our team on the rise, stars will now potentially be attracted here.

exactly.....and I feel like that is just the plan. The only thing that sucks is the amount of talent the 2014 FA class brings. There aren't really any big name guys that I feel we have a shot at.
Pistons seem to be in win now mode so a Stuckey-AA trade makes a lot of sense for both teams

Re: One More Trade....?
What's Afflalo's contract look like? I'd love to have him back, as KCP+AA gives us a pair of solid, honest to god SGs. Not combo guards. However, with the addition of the Jennings contract, I don't know if we'll have room to extend Moose and add AA. Before we got Jennings, I would have jumped at the opportunity to get AA and dump Stuckey.
Also, could the Magic use a guy like Jonas Jerebko? He's a hustle guy who can play the 3 or the 4, but is really best as a 4. We just don't have room for him in the rotation now with Smith and Moose taking up the minutes at PF.

Well we do have Nicholson who can provide instant O but couldn't stop Ben Wallace from scoring 30 pts.....lol. Not sure if Jerebko would be a little redundant to him but I haven't watched him play this year.
And not sure your guys cap situation but I believe AA makes a little less than Stuckey this year and is under contract for 2 more years. Something around 7-8 mil
With Jennings at the point I see a AA type guy as a WAY better fit than some scoring heavy usage SG.

Re: One More Trade....?
That's the thing - the Pistons likely have no interest in trading either of their expiring contracts for a player with a contract that extends for a couple years, unless they are getting a young star in that deal.
We've got a chance to add another star, and filling our space with ordinary guys would preclude us from doing that.
