Don't they still have Calderon or did he walk?

Dallas gave Calderon a ridiculous contract. He's due to make like 12 or 13 mil this year

Is it front loaded or something?

Where did you read that??? Thought it was only $7M a season (which is still a lot for him)

EDIT: here's his contract: 6,791,570 / 7,097,191 / 7,402,812 / 7,708,427. No idea where you got 12M from.

I thought it was 7m per year as well.

Random question time, what the hell is Kwame upto?

Not that we need him at this point but I'm sure he regrets leaving us.

Kwame exercised his player option for the Sixers for one more year.

With Noel injured and Philly tanking, I expect Kwame to have solid averages for the first half of the season.

I like Scola going to Indiana, last playoffs they desperately needed some help off the bench, savvy Scola can fill that role.

Hopefully CJ Watson is a vast improvement from DJ

The Hawks claimed Gustavo Ayon off of waivers. I have always liked him, and if he was made available through the waivers, I'm kinda disappointed we didn't pick him up. Could have given us depth at PF
Mike Malone was never given a fair chance in Sacramento, and Ranadive will soon come to regret that, when he's on top of the WC inevitably contending somewhere

I could see the point in claiming him, but he just seems like he would only be an extra guy here...where the hawks actually need him.

Do the Pistons make the playoffs this year? They upgraded PG with Brandon Jennings and added Josh Smith. I feel like there's a ton of talent on the roster but the pieces don't seem to fit together smoothly. They remind me of the 2012 Sacramento Kings and they still don't have a shooter.

That team finished with 28 wins and the 6th worst record in the NBA.

Talented bigs - check
Selfish egos - check
Chuckers - check

They're going to be better than 28 wins because they are big and physical. I think we could get their pick at 10.

I think a lot of things determine whether the Pistons make the playoffs. First, I don't think they're going to be able to start Jennings, Smith, Monroe and Drummond because of spacing/scoring concerns. I don't know if they will do this from the start and just employ a trial and error method, but if they do, they could waste a good chunk of games.

Second, the severity of tankapalooza will greatly influence how Detroit finishes in the EC.

Third, injuries are a concern for every team, and the Pistons could suffer if one of their big men goes down.

I don't know if we'll get the pick this year, but I think Detroit will be right on the cusp of the playoffs but they'll have to catch a break to get in.

Honestly, I think we are more likely to make the playoffs this year. They may though. I expect their pick somewhere between 10- 18. Which is about where Chicago will likely get our pick. Works out pretty well.

They're going to either miss the playoffs or get in as an 8th seed with 35 wins. That pick could be as bad as 15 or as good as 10. They aren't beating Miami, New York, Indiana, Brooklyn, Chicago, or even Atlanta with that mess of a lineup. Washington is a good bet to beat them and even Cleveland or Toronto could be better. If we overachieve, we could make it as well. I have them either 9th or 10th in the conference. They'll need an injury or two to Atlanta, Washington, Cleveland, or Toronto to make the playoffs, and they'll have to do some hardcore tanking to keep their pick. Smith/Jennings is a duo made in hell. Pistons fans are going to hate their own team by December.

I think the Pistons have a decent rotation right now. My best guess would be this.....

Jennings (32) /Bynum (10) /Billups (6)
Billups (14) Stuckey (20) / KCP (14)
Smith (16) / Datome (16) / Singler (16)
Monroe (16) / Smith (20) Vilanueva (12)
Drummond (30) / Monroe (18)

They have some decent shooters to help space the floor at least in some of these rotations. I would expect them to struggle early in the year, and then slip into the playoffs as 7th or 8th seed and maybe give somebody a tough first round, but lose in 6 games.

I don't know, I think that Pistons team with Brandon Jennings & Josh Smith is going to be better than most of you are predicting. Due to the inconsistencies of Jennings & Smith though, I won't assure them a playoff spot. I got them winning anywhere from 35-45 games depending on how Mo Cheeks adapts as a head coach again, and barring a healthy Andrew Bynum, I think Detroit finish with a better record than Cleveland

Also, I really like what the Bucks have done. They are basically going to have a new team on the floor next season with only 5 players returning.

PG Knight/Ridnour/Ish
SG Mayo/Neal/Wolters
SF Delfino/Bo/Middleton
PF Ilyasova/Henson/Udoh
C Sanders/Pachulia/Raduljica/Kravtov.

Thats not a bad team to watch, but still wont get too many wins. I do not think Bucks will have to worry about the 8th seed this year.

And Props to them for getting into a rebuild so fast, our rebuild took a while before we got it rolling.

That's not a rebuild, that's a reload. The Bucks have assembled a roster of savvy vets and ego-less players that want to win. It has a good chance of being the Bucks' Ideal, an overachieving team that sneaks into a 6 or 7th seed. Their season will be a success as long as they don't meet the Heat in the 1st round. They've got to stay healthy though, they're woefully thin at certain positions.

That's not a rebuild. They don't have a legit 1st option, they don't even have a legit 2nd option, they have a ton of good 4th and 5th options and then they have OJ Mayo. 12th seed.

The Pistons look like a team that will look absolutely wonderful on some nights and completely horrible the next night. Them, Washington, Cleveland and Toronto are in the same tier, in my opinion. All hope to make the playoffs, every team has made improvements as far as adding players go, but probably two of them, if not three, will fail and be a team so mediocre that even the 8th seed in the East will be out of question.

Despite the way things will go with Detroit, it adds one more interesting storyline to the upcoming season and that's what I am happy about.
