This is what Ariza, Clark, Shannon Brown all were: young guys with potential that played for teams that they for whatever reason didn't fit into, so we are gonna pick them up for cheap and polish them off. He's Ryan Kelly insurance. If one of those guys turns into an everyday player then it's huge.

Anyone asking for more hasn't quite accepted our situation.

Kelly is unproven that spot is able for taking

Essentially saying we still need a stretch 4. Never said anyone was proven.

I'm pretty sure Jim Buss is looking at it as a free for all season because everybody comes off the books at the end. But if Nash doesnt stay healthy and productive they'll even use that stretch provision on him probably

Yeah, I know... Jerry hired Rudy T because he hoped "it would get us back to playing Showtime basketball."
So it's been a long-standing desire...

But it's an illusive one... Showtime came from Riley's manic, driven work ethic, Kareem's willingness to be coached hard from his time with Wooden, and Magics flexibility and transcendent all-around skill...

You had a HOF 7'3" maybe best ever C with outstanding fundamentals, who was willing to get up and down the floor to block shots and anchor the D as well as being the last line of offense.
You had a HOF, maybe best ever PG who was 6'8', could play any position on Offense and score from anywhere, and could also defend from 2 to 4...

And then you surround them with another HOFer in Worthy, and guys like Nixon, Scott, Rambis, etc, etc, who were good in the locker room and willing to work hard under Riley...

There just aren't too many teams like that in the history of the game...

This would be a great move. I checked his stats for last year, and he shot over 46% from the field, and about 42% from three. Add to that, the fact that he is young and athletic. I'm not sure if I remember how good his defense was. Will have to check.

As all Lakers fans have noticed we pick up guys like this and they become household names and sign elsewhere. I actually like his shooting stroke and if we bring him in we need to sign him for 2 years and make the second year a team option. A 6'11 sf with two 7 footers behind him will help defensively regardless if he's a good on ball defender.

I've been waiting for hi to break out for years, and he still might in the right role. But I wouldn't' be heartbroken if we got J-squared either. Both are fine pickups in my book

good luck..Austin Daye is a fine player, however his inconsistency is a huge drawback. I've seen his potential in defending, rebounding and posting up but it is very clear thus far that he is not a consistent player that can hurt you as a rotation player come playoff time. This also applies to his 'known' primary skill, shooting, however that may simply be a confidence issue. The Pistons games I went to last year, he was great in pregame shooting. But obviously, most players can shoot comfortably in pre-game.

Fine - get James Johnson instead. Makes the decision easy
