Chris Paul has a career playoff PER of 25.5 which equals his regular season PER of 25.5 and is one of the highest playoff figures of all-time for a PG. It's also higher than every single player on your list of 'better' PG's above even though you're using his playoff performances as the main reason to downgrade him. That's especially impressive because most NBA players see their PER's drop in the playoffs as defenses get tighter.

I think you're getting confused on who comes up small in the playoffs and that's generally been Paul's less than stellar teammates. Blake Griffin got injured and then completely disappeared this past year pretty much leaving Paul out there on a island. Prior to that, his Hornet teams simply didn't have enough talent beside him to make a long playoff run in the west.

But please continue on about how Damion Lillard and Kyrie Irving, neither of whom have played a single playoff game yet, are better PG's than Chris Paul. That should make for some excellent humor for the rest of us.

why would you want to stay in la, be second fiddle to the lakers, and lose? blake griffin and jamal crawford do not equal dwight howard and james harden. sure, the clippers have been much better recently. but theyre not winning a title with that current lineup. theyll be lucky to get out of the first round. this is just another example of coaching being extremely overrated in the nba.

Chris Paul messed up. He turned down a chance to play with Dwight AND Harden just so he could throw lobs to Griffin and Jordan? Ouch.

I wish CP3 would take over games more often; the way he picks apart defenses and has them on a string 8-)

Oh yeah and BTW--- Bill Simmons and all of ESPN besides Magic suck

The only thing I agree with in your post is that..... Chris Paul is overrated.

Not saying Felton is even close to CP3, but the guy gets traded for Melo, spends a miserable season in Portland and comes back to the Knicks and is all smiles... Team chemistry wins Rings, not a talented PG who will only stay if they trade a 1st round pick for Doc Rivers

i'm biased because i worked for Wake Forest basketball when Paul was there, but I think he absolutely can win and be a good teammate Granted this was almost 10 years ago, but he was nowhere near a diva when he was 18/19

Doc has a proven track record of getting stars/egos to play hard and play together. Remember, KG flamed out in the first round 7 years in a row before he got to Boston and teamed up with Doc, Pierce, Allen. They might not be able to overcome OKC/Houston simply on talent, but I expect LA to have chemistry this year.

As far as the Felton comparison ~ the Paul comments about Houston are just heresay. Do you hate Melo for forcing his way out of Denver? It's the climate of the league-- 100% guaranteed contracts... players have all the leverage when there is a market for them.

Even if true, Paul was a free agent and had the advantage. LA didn't have to sign him. Theycould have just as easily said "OKay, good luck, Chris." He also "demanded" a max salary, which he earned with his leverage. The market dictates you can get away with it. Felton came back smiling because he was humbled and lucky to have a job. You are comparing a journeyman whose only real success came out of D'Antoni's system to a Hall of Famer. The diva/chemistry stuff is way overblown, and you were just wrong saying he "always comes up small in the playoffs"

This is why people think you are a trolll. You say things that don't make sense to be dramatic

That's a troll comment in itself. I agree CP3 is a top 3 PG but saying Garnett was nothing until Boston is total BS. He took that Wolves team to the WCF with Sprewell and Cassell and a bunch of complete bums. They beat some very tough teams and ultimately the Lakers tandem of Kobe and Shaq was just too much.

CP3 is good but he's never leading a team to the finals unless they have a top 10 big man and a top 10 wing player too. They have neither and will be a perennial 2nd round exit team now that with how strong the Grizz and Rockets are now. They need one more solid wing player to carry some scoring burden but CP3 isn't good enough to carry a team like that. Only PG is remotely close would be Derrek Rose and he's a scoring PG like Iverson.
PG's don't win championships- they're crucial in most cases but they aren't the number one option in most cases.
One day Marcus Smart will be defensive player of the year, mark my words.

If he goes to Houston there would have been no room to sign Dwight

If Miami can sign Lebron Wade and Bosh, Houston can sign Howard, Harden and Paul. A sign and trade of Lin and Asik to LA for Howard would have made it happen. Lakers need to rebuild a need a young dominant center. They also need a PG. Lin could learn from Nash and IMO be better than Nash in his prime. Those two plus an experienced Kobe and another big free agent like Carmelo in a few years would make a big 4 that would contend for a championship.

no chance the lakers agree to a sign and trade with houston. why make a move that only benefits houston? theyre better off with cap space than lin and asik. houston could have still gotten all 3 but it would have been difficult. it would have been hard to trade lin and asik. teams are going to be hesitant to help another team build a superteam. plus, they backloaded both of their contracts in order to steal them away from their teams last summer. both guys make 5 mil this season and 15 mil next season. gms arent exactly lining up to pay lin 15 mil in any one season.

You should really only comment on salary related issues if actually understand the CBA... clearly you don't.

Lin and Asik are star players and better than getting nothing for losing Howard. Lakers would be much better off. Instead they have an aging Nash, Kobe and Gasol and at center... CHRIS KAMAN. So what you're telling me is you think Kaman is better than Asik? Yeah right.

Plus who cares if Lin and Asik have big contracts. As long as they have Bird rights, they can go over the cap and sign whoever they want after to max contracts. Getting these young players would have helped start the Lakers rebuild.
