Re: The 2013 free agency thread.
Pistons fans are counting on Billups to be able to mentor Jennings into being a better player. We will have to see how that works out, but *if* he improves shot selection slightly and passes more then Jennings will be a huge upgrade. OTOH it could be a huge problem if he keeps taking long 2s and has on again off again passing nights. It's an interesting move/
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

They are free falling losing their future (nothing new in Detroit nowadays). They just costing us a better pick (or they traying hard to do so) by Dumars bailing out himself.
I am said for Bucks fans, they don't deserve to have to tie their hopes with Knight.

how long before bucks fans start talking about brandon knight being better than kemba?
actually, i hope bucks fans are quiet about knight, because he is a guy that is easy to root for. it was the piston fans that made me root against him.
and this is perfect, because i cant stand jennings or josh smith.

Lol you and me both. I hope Knight absolutely tears it up next year.

Classic Dumars. That team will either either gel amazingly and make noise in the playoffs or (more likely) completely implode into a treadmill disaster. Sheed will probably lead the league in techs, still.

Detroit fans have made me forever hate Brandon Knight. I think I'll always root against him, unless God forbid he end up on the Bobcats

They've made me feel the same way about Drummond.

Re: The 2013 free agency thread.
Sam Amico dropped another free agency target in his chat today, he actually answered my question:
12:12
Comment From The Lottery Mafia
HornCats Question: Have you heard any rumors for last roster spots apart from Devin Ebanks? Anything else of note about the HornCats we should know?
12:13
Sam Amico: Re-signing Gerald Henderson was important. Sounds like they're now ready to let team grow from within. I haven't heard anything more about Ebanks. Have heard the Cats (sorry, HornCats) may reach out to Darius Morris, too.
Sam Amico: Bucks and Hawks also eyeing Ebanks, from what I've heard, by the way.

I like both those pickups....
Ebanks can even play a little 4 in small ball. Solid midrange shooter as well. Would be decent pickup for depth in case MKG were to miss some games.
Morris is a bigger pg at 6-4 and can be a solid playmaker. Not a great shooter, but always thought he would excel more in the NBA after watching him at Michigan.

I'm indifferent towards a possible Devin Ebanks signing, but I guess he's not bad for a end of the bench type of guy as a 3rd SF that can play some PF. I thought Ebanks would've been a quality player in the league by now, but he's been the same disappointment as he was at West Virginia. Regardless, he has talent & size, but he still just hasn't put it together yet
However, I would love the Darius Morris signing. Morris has enough upside to be an option to keep around as a backup PG in case Ramon Sessions opts to leave when his contract expire next offseason. The other reason why I would like Morris is because he would offer something different as depth, being that he's a pass-first prototype on offense with the potential to be an great defender

I'm amazed he didn't get drafted on name recognition alone. I want him on here for sure. He really can't be worse than Ben Gordon.
Like seriously he really can't be: http://stats-for-the-nba.appspot.com/ratings/2013.html

Good news, Bobcats fans. You are no longer the favorite to be the worst team in the NBA.
The bad news? It has more to do with the historic tank job happening in Philly than anything Charlotte did this summer.
Adding Jefferson gives the Bobcats the strong low-post scoring option that they have lacked the past few years. Zeller gives them a young stretch 4 who could be a terrific complement for a player like Jefferson -- if Clifford can become the first coach in the NBA to persuade Big Al to pass the ball out of the block.
But the Jazz let Jefferson walk this summer exactly because their young players couldn't make the next leap with him on the floor. While he and Zeller, combined with the handful of East teams in bad shape, should equal a few more wins this season, it will come at a cost. Getting marginally better won't push the Bobcats into the playoffs, but it will take away pingpong balls in the best draft of the next decade.
What the Bobcats really need is a star to build around. No one on the roster is up for the challenge, and their summer strategy appears to be hurting their odds of adding that guy next year.

Re: The 2013 free agency thread.
Seth Curry Analysis
1) Physicality- Seth's body is almost identical to that of his brothers Steph, if you look at their pre draft measurements both stand at 6ft 3inc in shoes, with a wingspan between 6ft 3inc - 6ft 4inc. Even their weight are only two pounds apart. This shows that the argument of "Seth is too small for the NBA is incorrect".
2) Skill Level - Due to Steph's physical limits he was forced to play pointguard in the NBA, he was able to improve his ball handling to an extremely high level and also improve his court vision. Seth has never been as strong ball handler as his brother and never quite had the same unselfish aspect to his game. However, due to his injury Seth was forced to play off the ball in his final year to, this made him seem slightly one dimensional (which can be a good thing, ask Steve Novak or Jason Kapono). Would Seth be able to improve to the same extent as his brother? Unlikely.
3) Position- Due to Seth's size he would be limited to playing the PG position for the short term, unless a team decided to go small. Even with some of the smaller twos such as Ben Gordon (6ft 3) OJ Mayo (6ft 4) and Wade (6ft 4) they all have a strong amount of upper body strength and/or athleticism. There are very few SG in the league with Curry's mix of size, thin frame and below average athleticism if any. He could possible become stronger, but after three years in the NBA his brother Steph has struggled to really fill out at all, this is the kind of thing that does carry from one family member to another.
4) Fit - I think Curry would be a low risk option as our third string PG, he would have no pressure to perform and could take some time adjusting to the one spot in training camp and practice. His three point shooting would be a definite plus as our roster has just one player who shot above 35% from three last year.
Overall, I would sign him as a 15th man, he fills a need while keeping the fanbase happy. The guy we sign instead of him is never going to really contribute that much anyway, so whats the harm in trying? He obviously wants to be here and comes from a great programme at Duke where they learn how to play the right way.
Devils Advocate: Plus if he stayed on it could help lure Steph back to Charlotte
(I am aware this won't happen!)

Great post mafia. I'm in pretty much agreement with that analysis. If we do sign him the fan base needs to accept he won't contribute much at all.
The 3pt shooting is what appeals to me about him the most.

It's completely ludicrous to believe that Jefferson was a lateral move. We legitimately got better as a team and not just because other teams got worse. Why are you such a self-deprecating Bobcats fan? If you don't have hope, you don't have anything and I personally have a lot of hope for the upcoming year. We're going to be better out of virtue of the team getting better, coaching, personnel and attitude wise.

Completely agree with you. This team has heart and a chip on their shoulder and you can tell they are practically crawling out of their skin wanting to show it. I think Detroit made the Brandon Knight move because they are still kicking themselves for passing on Kemba.
