If it will be Motiejunas then I fully expect the coach to start Motiejunas+Javtokas (since Motiejunas+Valanciunas frontcourt would have an atrocious defense). If coach decides that Valanciunas should be a starter, then he will probably put one of the Lavrinovic brothers (ideally it would've been Valanciunas+Jankunas) in as a PF to start the game.
I dont think D-Mo is worse than Lavrinovic brothers defensively. Kleiza will probably start at PF anyway.
I have to politely disagree. D-Mo was exposed last year - his defense was non-existent against NBA talent. Mainly because of skinny frame, short arms and the lack of lateral quickness as well as lack of experience (he's 22 after all). He wasn't known for his defense during his tenure in Europe either. Both of Lavrinovic brothers can block shots, enough bulked to defend PFs and have tons of experience. So it's not even close in my opinion. The question that really matters in my opinion, are D-Mo's offense and Javtokas' defense enough to disguise his defensive issues. Kleiza might play both SF and PF (I think he will mostly play SF though, there just doesn't seem to be enough room for him in PF spot) - it all depends on the lineups though and whether the new coach is going to implement some sort of smallball with this years squad.
