I developed this formula(its still under wraps) but its like a PPA for general Manager. Ernie was a -184.9. Lowest of any general manager in history of the NBA

As bad as I think Ernie is, I'm not even sure he's the worst GM in Washington history. Wes Unseld and John Nash are serious competitors for that title.

I was Warriors fan in the '70s-'80s when I lived in SF. I'll put Al Attles up against absolutely anybody for worst GM ever (despite the title...). He traded Kevin McHale and Robert Parrish for Joe Barely Cares. In '84, he drafted at #6 a guy no one in the organization had ever seen play. I kid you not.

Nope. Here you go:
However, if that team has a $5 million player and a $1 million trade exception from a previous trade, it cannot add the trade exception to the 125% plus $100,000 margin from their $5 million player ($6.35 million), in order to trade for a player making $7 million. This cannot be done, as it would invoke using two exceptions on the same player.

Can they even be traded for a future 2nd? Can they be traded at all? I always see TPEs going unused. In most cases they seem like heavily protected future 2nds

^ No, another section of the FAQ says that teams can't trade their TPE's to other teams. Basically, the only thing you can use it for is acquiring a player who's salary fits within that dollar value. And since ours is so small, it limits the possibilities.

Thanks. I knew you or nate33 or someone would have the answer right off the top.

Re: Official Trade Thread - Part XXIV
The trade I keep coming back to is Ilyasova. Maybe something like Ariza, Singleton, lottery protected 1st rounder for Ilyasova?
Bucks need SF, and Ilyasova would be an ideal fit for Wizards. Bucks would definitely want a draft pick. From Wizards point of view, Ariza and Singleton are probably gone after this season regardless (expiring), so essentially they'd be trading a non-lottery 1st round pick for him.
The drawback would be his salary hindering their options next offseason. But he's a good player that fills a need and is in his prime. And he'd give us Nene insurance as a backup who could legitimately start if he is out for any extended period.

Re: Official Trade Thread - Part XXIV
Honestly,
At this point I believe our roster is set and there is no need to trade Ariza. He is very versatile so he can fill multiple positions throughout the 1st half of the season with guys getting nagging injuries here and there. By the trade deadline Porter will be up to speed and be able to contribute some meaningful minutes. At that point Ariza will be valuable to us should Porter/Martell be in a slump/injured. Or, a team in contention will need him due to injury.
Again, Ariza is a jack of all trades kind of player who most any contending team would love to have. Let Porter come along slowly and let Ariza jack up corner threes from Wall and play elite perimeter defense for half the season and re-evaluate then.

Try before you buy.
They have enough piece to run Wall with three 3 point shooters and a center or play traditional with Wall, Beal, Webster, Nene and Okafor.
If the S4 line up work well for them, they can find an upgrade version on one. They really don't need to make that move right now though.
But they say they are still looking.

Both Wittman and Grunfeld said they are still exploring more deals for the rest of the summer. Wall said that he's happy with the roster as well. "Two or three veterans would be alright, and a Stretch 4 still would be great to have, but I feel like our team will still be able to do what we need to do to make the playoffs," he added when pressed.

Hmm. Kind of throw some players under the bus there. Happy with the roster. Enough to make the playoffs. But 2 or 3 more vets and a S4 would be great. lol.

Bucks fan here.
Odds of Washington accepting a Ersan for Vesley, Seraphin, unprotected 2014 pick.
Basically it is a gamble. If Washington makes the playoffs (which is very likely). Washington wins the trade. If they just miss the playoffs and get a late lotto pick, I think the trade is even and if Washington gets a top lotto pick Milwaukee wins the trade.
I think Ersan is a very good player. I think he would fit and be great on just about any team. With him I believe Milwaukee is a playoff team without him I believe Milwaukee is one of the worst teams in the league. I want to be one of the worst teams in the league.
Edit-please don't counter with a lotto protected pick.

I think we pass... I think EG will protect the cap space for next year - he also hopes that Seraphin will become a better player (even if that is a pipe dream). That and Ted isn't going to let EG trade an unprotected pick.
So this trade is DOA.

Agreed, unless a truly one-sided trade comes along, this is the team for the '13-'14 season. If they don't do well coming out of the gates, then we will see an asset sale at the trade deadline.

I would do that trade without hesitating. It leaves us an expiring Ariza to use as another outgoing piece in another move. I actually think the Bucks would be the ones to decline this trade.

So, you think Ted would go for the unprotected 1st?
From Ted:
4. Commit to building around the draft. Invest in scouting, development, and a system. Articulate that system and stay with it so that all players feel comfortable-- know the language-- know what is expected of them-- read the Oriole Way*. It worked and it is a great tutorial. Draft players that fit the system, not the best player. Draft the best player for the system. Don't deviate or get seduced by agents, media demands, or by just stats or hype. Envision how this player will slide into your system.

Expiring contracts for next year are: Okafor, Ariza, Seraphin, Booker, Temple
Team options are: Vesely and Singleton (Beal, but that will be picked up)
That leaves us with a tremendous amount of flexibility... rather have the flexibility than a net negative PER

Especially given Okafor could walk leaving us without a C.

I would guess you guys would. If I were the Wizards management I would. I would bet the Bucks real management would decline. The only reason I would do it is to try to bottom out and get a chance at Wiggins. Ersan significantly hurts those chances. Having another first round pick in 2014 would be nice.

I don't know what exact number you are looking at. but the one I see is the bucks had a net -.1 point differential with him on the court and a net negative 3.4 point differential per game with him off the court. That gives him a positive 3.3 point differential per game.

I was looking at NET PER against other PFs... I think the negative 3.4 has more to do with Udoh and Ayon. Either way, he wasn't a + point differential. Better than our other PFs, yes. Worth the cap flexibility and pick, no.
Just an opinion of course
