Seth Curry is not an NBA player. He's too slow, his handles are too poor. I'd rather have an open roster spot than poor man's Daniel Gibson.

I agree with nanogeek (for once) on the Al Jefferson tip.

Don't discount Seth Curry just by what you've seen of him recently at Duke. He struggled with injury his entire senior season (and still managed to average 17.5 ppg) and the year before he was stuck alongside the great black hole Austin Rivers. He's a very crafty player, a great shooter, fantastic at curling around screens, and actually not too shabby of a ball handler. At least worth a roster spot. And, if he does regain some of his speed after his surgery this summer, we could have a wonderful rotation player on our hands.

Let's see...

-Young
-Coachable
-Can hit the three
-Plays PG (team needs a third PG)
-Actually wants to play for Charlotte

No chance we sign him.

Though it would be nice. Gerald Wallace wanted to stay a Bobcat so he was traded. Curry wants to be a Bobcat/Hornet and likely won't get the chance. What is it with this team trying getting guys who don't want to be here (Gordon) and blowing off those who do?

We have Jefferson and Sessions who both wanted to be here pretty badly. That's it, our quota for the 2010s is over.

I'm not saying he's Steph, but isn't that what was said about him coming out of college.

Celts waived Shavlik Randolph. Sign him!
I know everyone's going to laugh at my *ss here, but he'd be the perfect fit as our. . . I don't know, something, our rebounding specialist? Here, read this article: http://espn.go.com/boston/nba/story/_/i ... k-randolph

Did you know Shav:
Averaged 34 & 15 in China last year?
Then nabbed 26.3 percent of all available defensive rebounds during his time on the floor and 22.4 percent of all caroms overall in his short stint with the C's?
Imagine the ex-Dukie Unintentional Comedy Scale with Shav & McBob on the floor at the same time!
Boston fans loved him so much they started a Free Shav movement to get Doc to put him in the games.
Seriously, Sign Shav!

According to the WT Bulls, Clips, Grizz and us are after Jamison.

We have about 2.9m left in the cap.

What position do we fill?

Should we sing Jannero Pargo to an unguaranteed deal to save a space and dollars for when someone becomes available later in the season?

@Snidely

We currently have Haywood as our third string C and I'm not sure we need another one.

Sik, you are always right! But sometimes its not about the winning. Sometimes you just got to do it for the lolcats.

No, not at all. Seth has always been the de facto lesser of the Curry bros. The only reason Steph went to a small school is b/c he was built like a fetus coming out of high school. Seth was in a similar situation and he went to Liberty initially before transferring to Duke (fitting Coach K's schemes of having 3 guard line-ups and living by the 3). But there has always been a clear talent disparity between the two. Steph has way better handles, more quickness, and much better passing. Seth isn't the athlete, the playmaker, and probably not even the scorer that Steph is and it's not even close.

Good college player but nearly insurmountable odds of being worth a damn in the NBA. He needs a beautiful basketball mind to be an NBA player to overcome his lack of tools and I'm not sure he has that.

I don't see why we couldn't give Seth a shot. At least he has some upside as three point shooting is invaluable in today's game. I rather take a chance on some one-dimensional guy who could excel at one thing, whether it's three point shooting, rebounding, defense, doesn't matter, than simply some blah player like Cory Higgins or Sherron Collins who didn't really have any great talent at some facet of the game.

My favorite Shavlik Randolph fact by far is that when asked about John Ameachi coming out of the closet he responded that it was alright as long as he did not bring his gayness on him.

Nanogeek wrote:http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/9517736/nba-offseason-grades-east

Chad Ford at ESPN Insider has developed grades for each team's offseason moves. He gave the Bobcats a C- saying:

Good news, Bobcats fans. You are no longer the favorite to be the worst team in the NBA.

The bad news? It has more to do with the historic tank job happening in Philly than anything Charlotte did this summer.

Adding Jefferson gives the Bobcats the strong low-post scoring option that they have lacked the past few years. Zeller gives them a young stretch 4 who could be a terrific complement for a player like Jefferson -- if Clifford can become the first coach in the NBA to persuade Big Al to pass the ball out of the block.

But the Jazz let Jefferson walk this summer exactly because their young players couldn't make the next leap with him on the floor. While he and Zeller, combined with the handful of East teams in bad shape, should equal a few more wins this season, it will come at a cost. Getting marginally better won't push the Bobcats into the playoffs, but it will take away pingpong balls in the best draft of the next decade.

What the Bobcats really need is a star to build around. No one on the roster is up for the challenge, and their summer strategy appears to be hurting their odds of adding that guy next year.

I completely agree with his analysis. Signing Jefferson was a bonehead move. Click on the link above to see what he said about all the other teams.

Nice post nanogeek. I agree with you.

Sorry to disagree, but draftexpress said Steph was not a true point and that he was stuck between a one and a two coming out of school. Nbadraft.net said that his nba comparison was Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf. I would be more than happy to give Seth the third point guard spot and see what he can develop into. He could very well be the next Jeremy Lin. No way I count this kid out this early. As far as the beautiful basketball mind goes he will be a Duke Grad. That says it all right there.

As far as the Nanogeek post goes... when did we start taking ESPN's opinion on anything Bobcats seriously. They have never given our team a fair shake. Big Al is a career 50% shooter from the field. I am not going to cry if he doesn't lead the league in assists. As far as him causing us to loose ping pong balls goes... when has our ping pong ball count ever helped us? With the assets we have I am sure that Cho will be able to make something happen to land any player he falls in love with not named Wiggins who we were never likely to get anyway. Besides if the draft is as deep as they say it is we will not need a lot of lotto balls to get a good player. If Al is as bad as this guy says great! We should definitely be adding another great young player next year. Are we really going to cry if his name is not Wiggins, Parker, or Randle? Last I checked we had already drafted two pretty good young forwards.

Even if we do finish higher in the standings we will have at least 2 picks in this upcoming draft so that can always be used as trade bait to move up.

Seth would have played in summer league for us had he not been injured. I can't see why we would not at least take a look at him in training camp.

I am fine with signing Seth Curry. He is the type of guy who gets hot really easy and that will win a few games. I think he is more of a combo guard than a true PG, but he brings something to the PG rotation that we do not have... A shooter.

I think this is a no brainer, because we need guards, need shooting and the community would embrace it. The city of Charlotte takes pride in the Currys and it doesn't hurt he played for Duke. Plus I want to see Dell get all excited during the games when Seth makes shots.

I also, agree that he was not healthy this year and his potential may be higher than some people believe. Either way he is an NBA caliber shooter and would be a nice addition to our depth. Plus he can play with Kemba or Sessions for stretches because he spaces the floor.
