Oden will play less than Eddy Curry.

Haha, would be a damn shame if he's Curry 2.0...

There are mixed reports on this, but some say that he is NOT looking for the spotlight, and that he instead wants a low-key, low-pressure situation where he can come back when he's ready. I'm not saying the Heat would force him to come back early or jeopardize his rehab, but if I were Oden, I'd feel a heck of a lot more pressure and accountability trying to get back for a Finals favorite versus the Pelicans.

To me, it sounds as the "NOT looking for the spotlight" is a business pitch to a low key team to step up with the cash, as in "if you want me, I'm good for you, pay me then".

When I said Miami as a spotlight to create dollar value, well it is accurate. Florida tax break adds value to the dollar. Being in a championship team adds value to the name via press, but it is up to the agent to increase your income with exclusive interviews, endorsements, even your own product. etc

As far as the pressure factor goes, it is an athletes dream to face the pressure of competition at a championship level. I really don't think that was the pressure he was referring to, but more in the lines of having to solely carry a team on your shoulders as the main piece, and that's not the case with the Heat.

Oden probably wants the lengthiest deal he can get, while Pat Riley wants a 1-2 year deal, year 2 being a team option. Oden probably wants a player option instead, if he does well he opts out and gets an even bigger deal from some other team, if he reinjures himself he opts in and get paid for rehabbing the following season.

This is probably why it's taken this long, and probably why I think he doesn't pick our team.

All teams fear high risks situations, not just Miami. It is taking long because no team is willing to carelessly break their bank for an injury prone player. To me Miami is the one team that even if Oden gets injured they'd still compete for a championship.

Bourbon Street Shots @BourbonStShots
Just heard secondhand that Oden is NOLA-bound. I believe who told me, didn't ask about the chain. We shall see.

This was on the Hoopshype twitter feed. Obviously not offical yet.

Earlier today there was a post on facebook with a link to houndsports.com that said Greg Oden was Miami bound. And apparently this is the same source that had the Miller Amnesty and supposed to be credible. But the problem is.. the site has been been taken down. If you guys have liked the page "Team Trinity - Lebron + Wade + Bosh - Miami Heat" it says it on there.

I've already lost all my enthusiasm. Where there's smoke there's usually fire. I'll gladly eat crow if he does come but I'm just not feeling it anymore.

Is it wise of a ESPN TrueHoop NOLAPelicans writer to post something about this matter without having credible proof? He says it himself he heard it "secondhand", and he "didn't ask about the chain"

Hearing that Heat, Kings and Mavs (all Oden finalists) as well as Hawks, Knicks and Pacers have registered level of interest in Amundson

Oden..
Jason Calmes @BourbonStShots 2 minutes ago
Others saying NOLA and Heat still. Not sure which data is the freshest. Seems like today though. Heard nothing about other teams. - 42

Def not a good sign. Esp seeing the Pelicans are not in the group. or it could mean they just dont want Amundson. haha

I posted a second tweet on Oden. Heat still in the mix.

:D seems like negotiations are peaking.
At the end of day, Oden holds all the cards.
If Riley wants him he can get him, if Riley does not want him, then :dontknow:

Return to Miami Heat
