SAS and NO both make too much sense for him.

MIA seems like he'd just be asking for trouble.

Why would Miami mean he is asking for trouble? It makes the most sense to me. He would have very little pressure playing with LeBron, Wade, and Bosh. Look at guys around them like Battier, Haslem, Chalmers, Birdman, etc. They aren't asked to do much and there's very little pressure on those guys. Sure there might be an ESPN first take with Skip and Stephen A blowing everything out of proportion but it will quiet down quickly as long as Heat keep winning. Also it is his best chance by far to win a ring so Miami seems like the best choice imo.

^fair points. I just meant the spotlight is much brighter and the PT would be less consistent than in a smaller market with lesser expectations.

He grew up in Indiana. He played professionally in Portland. New Orleans and San Antonio both are the type of smaller market he is used to. Pelicans coach knows Oden from their time with the Traillazers. Spurs are largely just the model franchise in the NBA these days.

Less pressure, more PT seem like his best bets as he BEGINS his comeback.

I really wasn't expecting Oden to sign here but I would've been happy had he signed with anyone other than Miami!! I really don't like the Heat

How did they get him for 2yrs and the minimum salary ?

Don't tell me we didn't offer him two years for more than that, or at least one year but for more than two years at the minimum.
It's not like Kirilenko taking a paycut to get a chance at a title, while having already more than 100M in the bank, and being already 32.

Unless it was part of the "no pressure" to play for the minimum. I really thought that if it was to join a contender for a minimum salary, he would have chosen SAS.
Now, he's not with ATL, but worst, he's with our division opponent.

It was all different cases, but failing on Howard, then Bynum, then Oden... it's kind of frustrating, especially since our signing strategy looked like we were waiting for their decision before making the next moves. Each time we had or had the possibility to have room enough to make one of the best offer, for these three guys.

YES! Across the league, players still consider us the same old sorry ass Hawks. All the the cap space in the world won't change that. Ferry is still trying to change the culture and our reputation. It's an uphill battle.

Im sure someone might of offered him more but being in miami, playing for a championship organization and playing with the best player in the game was probably more attractive to him.
