Pekovic still out there, and Flip's comments in the latest WireTap article about letting "Pek" know how important he is to the and how fair the team's offer is makes me wonder if they are low-balling him. The rest of the FA dollars have pretty much dried up, so I wonder if he could be had in a S&T?

I would guess that Minny would be looking for Okafor+pick(s), but I'd rather give up Nene. Trouble is that doesn't really save Minny any money, so I'm not sure they'd be interested. Here's a stab at a 3-way to completely re-make our frontcourt. Not sure if it works for everyone, though.

Wizards trade: Nene, Ariza, Booker, and 2014 first (unprotected)
Wizards receive: Ilyasova and Pekovic (S&T)

Wolves trade: Pekovic and DWill
Wolves receive: Nene, Booker and WAS 2014 first

Bucks trade: Ilyasova
Bucks receive: Ariza and DWill

Love it for us, but like I said may not work for everyone else. Maybe add Seraphin/Singleton and we also take Barea's contract? I don't know.

Al Harrington would make a bunch of sense.

Al Harrington for the minimum is fine with me. I think he goes to a contender, though. Maybe the Clippers?

Al Harrington seems like a natural fit. He's washed up, was halfway decent years ago and Ernie & crew have had their eye on him for almost a decade now.

Not only that, but I think our bench is so pathetic, that Al Harrington constitutes an upgrade over all of our current options off the bench.

Perhaps.

I thought the same thing about Okafor and Ariza this time last season.

If the guy has any game left, this team could be the one to reanimate him.

Sad but true. He would represent a significant upgrade over Ves, KSera & Singleton. So I really couldn't begrudge Ernie if he actually decides to sign him.

On the positive side, Harrington was a stretch 4 before his coaches knew what a stretch 4 was.

On the negative side, he's not very good, old, and declining.

When Harrington played the 4 with the Hawks he was probably the worst post defender i have ever seen. Guys would be shooting layups right in his grill and he wouldn't even raise his arms over his head. When a guy lowered a shoulder into him Al would literally just back up out of the way to avoid taking a hit. And he was in his prime then.

LR. I highly doubt they trade Nene. But I have long wanted Pekovic here.

Nice set up so you can complain if it happens.

Al on a cheap 1 yr contract would be a nice fit.

Al Harrington can be a positive locker room veteran, like Juwan Howard has been his last 5-6 years in the league.

Back in the day, M. L. Carr used to instigate when he was in games, and wave a towel while he was on the bench for the Celtics. He wasn't good as I recall but he was definitely good for that team. The Wizards had a guy like that. I really wanted them to get Blair for his physical presence. He could play. Some of the older guys just know where to be and what to do.

Harrington has some of the same swagger IMO as Stephen Jackson. I think certain, veteran guys who are confident can help the team just by their presence on the bench. I don't think he's as good a shooter as Jackson, but shooting threes is his game. I think he'd love the Wizards after last season with the Magic.

Harrington was also Nene's teammate in Denver.

I wonder if TMac would sign here for the minimum. Just shoot 3s off the bench. He's got to be better than Harrington.

DIRK TO DC

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nb ... n/2060619/

Dallas has failed to reload for Dirk over the last 2 years. They can't get anyone to come there anymore. And adding Monte Ellis isn't helping. Its more likely hurting.

Dirk gave a lot to the city but now it is time to set him free. The Wizards would be the perfect place for him to land. He is a UFA. He can go where he wants. He want to play 2-3 more years. That would work perfect for us. He has even talked of signing cheaper then normal to be on a team that could challenge for a title.

Wall
Beal
Webster
Dirk
Nene/Okafor

This is why you add Nene, Okafor and Trevor A to a team that was to young. Its so your young stars to show UFAs that they are legit players that they would want to play with.

Wizards need to make a name for themselves this year. Hit the grown running and get that 6th seed or better playoff spot. Thats how you attacked a Dirk to come play for you.

Players like KG and Duncan signed for 10-12M on these last contracts.

Title chase, here we come.

This should be its own thread. What say you mods ?

http://www.sportingnews.com/nba/story/2 ... lderon-sam

Lol.. hell no we aren't throwing in Beal. Why bother to make the deal if you are doing that ?

Dirk should just wait it out and go where he wants. If we end up there, we get to chose which assets we want to keep.

^ I think any chance of Dallas trading Dirk (if there ever was one) went out the window when they signed guys over the summer to longterm contracts. Why lock yourself into $60M combined for Calderon+Ellis if you're really considering rebuilding? Nah, Dirk has already said he'll sacrifice money to bring in more players so I think they'll see what they can do next summer.

With the Wall extension, Ted announced the intention to eventually make a major FA signing to for the Wizards to take the next step toward contending...

http://www.bulletsforever.com/2013/8/2/ ... gency-2013

So, looking at rosters, one guy that I see that could be a fit and could be obtainable is Greg Monroe. Ted is a Georgetown guy as we know.

We are pretty well set at PG, SG, and SF, so from a roster point of view if Ariza and Okafor expire center would be a logical position to next fill with a long term starter. Aldridge is another possible target. But Monroe to DC could be intriguing, he is a RFA in 2014 (Aldridge UFA 2015), and Detroit has another young center in Drummond to fill the void.

If Okafor and Ariza expire, could we and should we go after Monroe with a max offer to try to pry him from Detroit?

Monroe, Nene, Porter/Webster, Beal, Wall would be a good looking team mostly just entering prime (Wall and Monroe are 23 this year, Beal and Porter 20). Webster is still only 26, and Nene the old vet of the team.

Backup center we can decide on Seraphin and keep him if we want, or maybe keep Okafor with MLE similar to what we did this offseason with Webster? Or just use Nene there.

Them locking into those players might be exactly why he leaves. That team is stuck on suck. I don't think Dirk likes the rebuild. He didn't like them blowing up this championship team. I don't think he wants to play out his career on a maybe 8th seed team.

They were supposed to land players like CP3 or Howard, NOT ELLIS.

I think Dirk is done in Dallas.

Do your own research. I posted some links to things he has said.
