Nick Young, Kobe, Pau, Johnson, Farmar, and maybe Nash if we get a younger PG and he's on the bench.

Do you mean the 2014-2015 season?

If so, the only players that'll be back IMO are Kobe (smaller salary), Nash ($9 mill) and minor players. Of course, that will be the season after the Lakers have a lot of cap space so there could potentially be two max players on the roster such as Melo, LeBron, etc. I don't see Nick Young or Farmar returning as they both have 1-year deals (Young has a player option) but it's likely that teams will offer them a lot more money especially if they play well this year.

The ideal situation, IMO, would be to sign Carmelo and Bledsoe to big deals with Kobe and Nash on board. It's also very possible for the Lakers to waive Nash to free up even more cap space to go all in for LeBron.

I despise the guy as well, but I'll be his biggest fan if he puts on the Purple and Gold.

Kobe (hopefully healthy), Pau, Farmar, Johnson and Nick Young

EDIT...

How about if this was our starting lineup... Thoughts???

PG-Nash/Farmar (maybe Bledsoe if we can get him)
SG-Kobe
SF-Melo
PF-K. Love (following season)
C-Gasol

EHH not the greatest but isnt to bad that team could be solid but bad on defense unless we got Bledsoe

Love would have to come via trade right? When does his deal with Minnesota end?

He has a player option to opt out 2015. So he's gonna use it

Were you one of the fans that kissed Howard's rear while he was here too?

For sure?

Kobe, Farmar, Jordan Hill, Nick Young.

Would love Pau but it depends on money, other options, etc. There's not a whole lot of good big man options in 2014 Free Agency.

Kobe at $15m, Pau at $10 & Young at $5m... Want to see a healthy Nash... They will complement our team moving forward... Pau will take. Duncan/KG deal... Kobe will be interesting...

Kobe at 15? I hope not, I was thinking he would sign for somewhere around 10 mil per. Depending on who else they can sign

No need to worry about that, LeBron's not going to be a LAL. Worry more about what type of players to surround Melo to have a shot at winning a title lol

Kobe should take the vet minimum. With doing that, he makes it possible for the Lakers to get 2 max players and still have enough to sign a few nice pieces to go along with our starters. With the promise, which is HIGHLY illegal, of signing a bigger deal the following year around 19 mil due to the fact that the Lakers still own his Bird Rights. It's a risky move...but hell, we have seen riskier stuff in the NBA i.e. trading for Bynum and signing Oden.

This is where I wish Eric Pincus never wrote that article floating that Kobe minimum idea out there. If Kobe is even remotely close to the level he was at last year and is still a top 10 player in the league u expect him to take a million dollar contract? Would you? lol man what a silly idea to have floating out there. Especially after you were the star power that helped the franchise land that 5billion dollar TV deal. Kobe wants to win and is smart enough to know he'll have to take some type of reduction in play to put a competitive product on the court. I expect somewhere around 10-15mill. But could be the lower 10mill depending on the type of talent they can put around him. I expect Pau to resign also for somewhere between 5-8mill (Loves living in Los Angeles that much and does that off court work with the kids in that local hospital). We'll have the cap space regardless and unlike most I really feel landing Melo would be a good thing. We have to land the first piece so we can land others. But I still dont rule out that idea that Lebron and Melo team up in New York. If we do miss out on both marquee players (Paul George isnt realistic) than I'd suggest we keep the cap space available (no longterm deals) until the 2016 free agency class... Thats where we could land our next superstar face of the franchise

... giving Kobe the vet min is disrespectful ... people can say that so that Lakers could land two marquee players but come on, for 17 years Kobe worked his ass hard ... if not the hardest then harder than most of the players in the league ... i bet that if you were in his shoes you won't take the vet min ... after all he had done for the franchise vet min is disrespectful ... and with his level of play it is not reasonable ... i say 15 million max ...

If Kobe takes $15m, Pau takes $10m & Young takes $5m we would be able to put a solid product on the court with one max player and pieces... Remember, Kobe makes $30m this year alone therefore we have 3 starters for the same amount... Pau will have a BIG year & Young will be SOLID...
