What should we do with our Stuckey and CV expiring contracts

I think the poll question says it all - what should we do the Stuckey and CV's contracts?

If a superstar becomes available mid-season, I would certainly use them to aid in facilitating the trade.

Otherwise, let them expire and look to find an impact player with that cap space in the summer. Teams will likely be in a holding pattern to begin the July Free Agency period, making their bids for guys like LeBron, Melo and others.

In that time, Detroit can potentially snatch up a guy.

Concensus so far seems to be to wait. I agree as well. I want to see what our team, as currently configured, is capable of doing. Do Jennings and Smith use better shot selection? Does Drummond become the next Shaq? Can Datome and KCP hit consistently from the outside? Can Monroe and Drummond play twin towers together?

If the answer to all these are "yes", then we are certainly better hanging on to the expiring contracts. Doing something now limits our options.

I actually have come around to wanting Stuckey to start. He is very good pushing the ball, is a very good secondary playmaker, plays good defense when motivated, and is still capable of keeping the defense honest from 3point range. I'm hoping Billups and Cheeks can finally get Jennings and Stuckey to play smarter and more consistent. I think a mentor is what both guys have been lacking. However, I wouldn't hesitate to trade Stuckey if the right deal came along. I voted that we should wait until the deadline though so we can see what we have and what we need.

It is better to wait and see. Why trade your lunch before you've even taken the time to look what's in the paper sack?

If the starting five do work out well, holding onto Stuckey and CV gives this team quite a bit of depth.

I voted for the last one sarcastically assuming everyone would do it, I was apparently misguided. If it means anything I don't want to extend either of them.

Stuckey can actually contribute to this team making a playoff push.

CV is just garbage.

We should wait for the right deal, if we need to wait till the deadline so be it, if a deal is available before that even better, bottom line is, we should trade them to improve the team and take on future salary in the process.

FA is a crap shot and we might not even have enough money to sign a quality player if we let both expire.

Stuckey needs to raise his trade value. His use as a 3 point shooter and splitting turns with Bynum on the bench resulted in career lows. If he had been used in trades before that season he would have gotten something in return. Now he will be an expiring at most.

Stuckey should be used so that he contributes to our playoff push as starting SG or bench scorer. Stuckey contributed the last time he was used wisely and the coach didn't seem to be trying to get fired. I want to see what he can do under Cheeks.

Stuckey will play well a week before the deadline.... then Joe decides to pony up another 4 year deal. :kissmybutt:

I'd package one if possible for a solid player, then let the other expire. Rather re-up Monroe longterm.

We will have between $8-10 mil in cap space next off-season if we let our expirings walk.

What happened to the cap thread?

Do I have to repeat the same thing every single time?

Repeating over and over again won't make something incorrect suddenly become correct. Your numbers are wrong  We could have 8 mil in cap space depending on a series of things, we definitely will not have 10 million under any circumstance.

So like I said, and I'll repeat myself, We should trade CV and Stuckey because if we let both expire and walk we likely won't have enough cap space to add a significant piece to our roster, we will likely pay more than MLE money to a MLE caliber player which is a terrible idea.
