Rondo/Billups/Siva
Jennings/Singler

Smith/Mitchell
Drummond/min FA/min FA

Leaves us with ~$20 mil in cap room the summer of 2014.....

Melo would be able to sign a ~$20 mil contract in the summer of 2014....

6'1 Jennings at the 2??. Singler as our back-up 2??. Dang man, our options at the 2 would be awful...

Boston must be desperate to trade Rondo. And they must be very interested in Pistons players. All this talk about Drummond for Rondo - emanating in Boston, not here, since none of us want that and nobody with a BB brain would trade Dre for Rondo - or Monroe for Rondo: AS IF THE C'S ARE DOING US A FAVOR BY TRADING THEIR PETULANT CHILD TO US -- is all a pretty clear signal that they'd rather be us than them.

I don't want Rondo on this team at all, and I agree that Jennings is theoretically a better fit. Plus Jennings is a lot cheaper. Rondo would break the bank and would require we break up our core. Way too premature to get a player like that, and way too lousy a fit.

Move on.

what i dont understand, is how people think smith/drummond is a good frontcourt. its no advantage being big if neither of them can score in the halfcourt. i dont care how excellent they are defensively, it doesnt work if the game slows down and they cant be given the ball down low to score. thats something monroe can do, its what will lead us to success. lets not forget how impossible it is to get a reliable starting SF.

Once again a reminder, we are not trading Greg Monroe.

I am not sure I would. The value of a chucker like Jennings is entirely undervalued on this board. The worrisome part of Jennings is that he's a chucker who plays point. You always need a guy to create with five seconds left on the clock. I just hope he's improved his shot selection for the first nineteen seconds. Hopefully Cheeks remedies that somewhat.

Rondo's coming off an injury, is probably tougher for a coach to handle than Jennings, and would just be another guy who can't shoot on the roster.

The Celtics are trying to trade Rondo since he started playing there, I wonder why? I'll take Jennings over Rondo anyway.

And let them think they can get Drummond, lol. That's so funny.

Rant about Rondo: He won’t be a good option for the Pistons. A pg that cannot space the floor will not be a good option for the Pistons. Rondo will do better with Olynk and Sullinger than he will with Drummond, Smith, and Monroe.

Rondo made his name making passes to:
-a shooting guard that is the best 3 point shooter in basketball history (Ray Allen),
-one of the best jumpshooting small forwards in the league, a hall of famer also (Paul Pierce),
-and the best midrange shooting power forward in history other than Karl Malone/Dirk Nowitski (Kevin Garnett).

That’s a lot of floor space for a non-shooting PG. Our “Big 3″ is the total opposite of Boston’s former big 3. Why people think Rondo is a good fit for the Pistons is beyond me. Its a tragedy waiting to happen, that will never happen. Knight, Billups, and Jennings all shot 37% + from 3… they are all a better option than Rondo for the Pistons... who are built inside out.
You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.
Weaver & Casey, govern yourselves accordingly!
