ESPN reports Rick PItino saying @PeypeySiva3 has signed with #Pistons. Stay tuned. Nothing official YET. But last week's trade cleared spot.

It is official now, he posted this pic signing the contract on instagram

Even though he will probably see a lot of time in the d-league, I'm glad they found a way to sign him. He might be special.

He'll lead the team in DNP-CD's, given Dr. Drain, Billups and Bynum in front of him, potentially Stuckey as well.

I like the signing, especially if he can get some run in the D league. Two years from now, Billups and Bynum are gone, so we need to have a solid backup for Jennings by then. Siva could be an inexpensive backup.

I agree I think he projects to take over the Bynum role as our longterm backup PG. He probably won't play at all next year, but I'm just glad to know we are keeping him. He's got potential to be pretty good on a very cheap deal. Once Monroe's big extension takes effect, we are going to need quality players on cheap deals like this to round out our bench, if we want to have an all-star starting lineup all on big contracts. He could even develop into a trade asset like Bledsoe did in LA.

Interesting side note: So Siva posted an Instagram picture of him signing. IN the background I'm sure is a top secret board of all NBA players. Not that you can see much detail, but I'm sure Dumars wouldn't want someone to show his white board to anyone.

It just looks like the depth charts of each team. Centers toward the bottom and guards toward the top. Can't really make out what the red numbers are though. Salaries maybe?

Can't quite see enough. It may just be a simple depth chart, but I would think there may be some little "stars" or color coding for players the Pistons are targeting. Or maybe not. I am really curious about what kind of data Joe looks at and how he keeps track of the players in the league. I'm sure he's got a database that has salary and PER, etc of every player.

Anyone care to guess what Siva's ceiling may actually be?

People clamor for Rondo, and Siva comes into the league with a similar skill set and frame. Both are 6'1, Rondo probably has a wider wingspan. But both have great foot speed, Siva has a pretty good vertical jump. Both are bad shooters, but good passers.

Is Rondo a reasonable potential ceiling for Siva? Or, do you not see that lofty of heights for the Louisville product?

Way lower ceiling than Rondo.

Rondo is a freak athlete and is much longer and rangier. He can finish over NBA bigs with no problem due to his elite explosiveness. Siva couldn't do this in SL, and struggled a bit inside due to his size. Though siva is athletic, he does not have the ability to do this...

He played well in SL and earned his spot as the 3rd PG/end of the bench guy. Hopefully he can go to the D-league and hone his game a bit

I'm just glad we were able to sign him.

He's got a little flare to his game and his passing is legit. If he get's a jumper, we might have something.
