Bynum has the capability in any game to be the most dominant scorer in that game. He gets in zones that are pretty amazing. If we use him properly, we'll outscore the other team when he's in the game.

I was being Ironic.

But, I am thinking Chris Duhon, but he can hit the 3 every so often.

Best thing is he can play in the D League and get some more experience and work on his game.... If a PG gets injured we have an insurance policy... he might not play 100 minutes all season but if he works hard on his game he could be our backup in two years because Billups and Bynum will be done by than. He's in a good position to work on his game and try to hone his skills.

if he doesn't develop a 3 pt shot, which he probably wont considering it didn't improve much over his 4 years of college, he's a 3rd PG defensive specialist. if his D doesn't translate he's pretty much useless.

kind of OT- I hate the NBAs rule about D Leaguers counting against the roster. why is it that Euroleague guys don't count against the roster, but guys in the D League (which is the NBAs half a**ed player development attempt) do?

would it hurt the league to allow teams to assign 1 or 2 rookies to the D League per year that don't count against the 15 man roster and allow them to stay D League eligible until they've played a certain amount of NBA Games, say 20. if a team keeps a guy in the D League for an entire season (without playing more than 20 games) they would either have to put him on the 15 man roster the following year or place him on waivers, if he clears waivers they can put him on the D League team again in year 2. rinse and repeat.

sorry for rambling.

Don't ever apologize for making sense. The more of that we get the better. I like your idea, and fully endorse it. Plus the fact it gives players a real chance to prove themselves instead of wandering off to god knows where to play.

I disagree. Rondo is not good from 3 point range, but is considered a top 10 point guard. Thus, Siva is not automatically a 3rd PG defensive specialist. Heck, Calderon was not much of a 3 point shot and played poor defense and he just got a contract.

Thus, your premise is wrong. Siva has good court vision and is a decent passer. He will be afforded a year or two to develop his game from the bench. But, he has the potential to be very good or just a 3rd PG player. It is too early to tell. But, he has shown that he can play in the NBA in my opinion at some level at the very least.

Rondo has elite court vision and quickness and Calderons a 40% career 3 point shooter.

Siva doesn't have much of an offensive game at all, he doesn't have elite speed and struggles to finish when he does get to the rim. hes a good passer but that's about it, and unless he can keep teams honest with his shot they're going to sag off of him shutting down passing lanes. if he gets on the court its going to be for his defense imo.

Elite this, elite that. Wingspan, 3pt shot. Yadda yadda yadda... The usual misconceptions that people use on a player like siva will all blow over in their face. The facts are this. He wins

Fixing the quote:
The facts are this. He won in college.

I liked the way he played in Louisville. I liked the way he played in Summer League. I'm rooting for him to succeed. But prior team success in college is not a direct indicator of how they will pan out in the NBA.

There are just too many counterexamples where a guy on a good college team gets drafted and his game just doesn't translate well to the next level. e.g. Steve Alford, Jhonny Flynn, Eric Montross, Mateen Cleaves, etc.

Eric Snow was a very tough defender at the PG spot who was good at running a team but who struggled with shooting (he was taller, and I don't know about his wingspan). I don't recall Mugsy Bogues being a good shooter (no wingspan could make up for his lack of height--it was something else: damn fast with great ball handling). Yes, he's an outlier, and I also don't remember what his playoff success was like--but I remember seeing him have huge impacts on some games.

No, these two don't prove anything about Siva. But there's always a chance (which is the second-rounder scenario, isn't it?). Some want to dismiss him absolutely--so be it. I want to see him get some chances in regular season games. Maybe he could be a disruptor who could knock a guy like Paul off of his rhythm, in brief stints. Let's see.
