Born and grew up in South Florida, constantly moving between Broward and Dade. My dad and his family have also lived down here for their whole lives, so there was never any option for me other than the home teams. Through good times and bad, Dolphins, Heat, and Marlins are my teams.

grew up in miami. started playing basketball every single day around 6th grade, so naturally i follow the local NBA team. i also followed the bulls, but i was 11 yrs old and it was MJ so it's ok. when the Zo/Hardaway Heat faced the MJ Bulls in the ECF one year, I rooted for the Heat.
been a fan ever since.

Re: How did you become Heat fan?
In 2005, I had no knowledge about NBA, I decided that I was going to buy a sports game for my PSP. Somehow I chose NBA Live 2006 despite knowing nothing about it, so I played it for a bit, Allen Iverson was my favourite player but I decided to choose my team by who's logo was the best. I thought Miami had the coolest logo, I started an association and traded Wade for Iverson despite Wade being on the cover (Yes weird I bet you were thinking him being on the cover was the reason I chose Heat). Didn't become a big NBA fan until I changed schools and everyone at my new school loved basketball, about 2007-2008 became a massive basketball fan, watched it online whenever I could and always followed the box scores.
These days being a Uni student I have a lot of days free, especially when it's holidays, so I would of watched about 75 Heat games before playoffs live this year.

Re: How did you become Heat fan?
I didn't select an option because non apply to me.
My uncle moved from Brazil to Miami when I was 8...he gave me a Miami Heat hat one time and I thought it was cool.
The NBA wasn't that big in Brazil so I kinda followed the Bulls because of MJ but was never a Bulls fan per se.
In 1994, I got to visit Miami and loved that town and at the same time, I started playing NBA Live '94 so I chose the Heat and started slowly looking into the Heat during the old ages of the Internet and then ESPN started growing there in Brazil.
I started becoming a huge Heat fan during the Heat vs Knicks years...and since then, I'm a Heatle! Never looked back.
I cried when Allan Houston burried us and when Mashburn (CHOKER!!!) passed to Weatherspoon who missed the winning shot.
I cried when Zo came back from his illness and got a standing ovation.
Everywhere I go people ask me why I'm a Miami fan...in college people didn't get it, now people ask if it's because of LeBron and I tell them I was Heat fan when G-Money was still around.
I love this team...love hate relationship...I feel like me and Heat fans can talk bad about the team but HELL NO I will not put up with another team's fan talking crap about my team. LOL

Re: How did you become Heat fan?
Options don't fit me as well. I'm from Turkey. I started seriously following the NBA in 2004 and watched the team play for the first time the same year. I really liked the way Dwyane Wade played and became a fan.

Around 1996, a cousin of mine took me to see the Heat play the Vancouver Grizzlies and I fell in love with the game. I thought Tim Hardaway was amazing, been a heat fan since.

I became a Heat fan because of Wade
