Jonas was a FANTASTIC pick'n'roll guy in Europe and the only reason he hasn't had major success with it here is that nobody on our team knows how to pass to a wide-open rolling 7 foot guy with his hands in the air yelling for the ball.

Yes you are absolutely right, Jose Calderon is an absolutely terrible P'n'R guy.

Honestly...I don't even

If you don't realize the difference between Jonas's roll and, say, Howard/Chandler/Duncan's roll, then you're just a lost, lost soul

Dwight Howard doesn't even run PnR anymore. Jonas is a great roller he gets open plenty but his teammates didn't look for him, hopefully that starts to change now

UcanUwill wrote:Him being lighter and faster was more of the advantage in pick and roll play. I am not sure he could be consistent pick and roll finisher in the NBA, with the added weight. He is simply not as quick as before. He has good fundamentals and finishing ability though, so who knows.

And speaking about shooting, you are talking about very small sample size. Most if not all of his mid range attempts were balanced and wide open. Tho again, I do think he can develop a KG mid range jumper, he is already a passable pick and pop option.

Which there's nothing wrong about. If you play center you're going to have those wide open looks quite often, i don't think anybody expects him to start shooting off the dribble like Bargs or posting up from 10-15 feet like Dirk.
If you want to try to measure the elements of basketball that are supposedly unmeasurable, spend a game just watching Marc Gasol.

Are you saying Jose spent a lot of last year feeding a rolling Jonas? Or that he had an opportunity to? Let's see, the first part of the season Jonas barely got touches. Then he missed a couple months. Then Jose got traded. So...when did Jonas get a chance to get a steady feed of passes in the paint from Jose? Besides, Jose is only an OK picknroll PG. With a good one who is willing and able to thread the needle or seize split-second opportunities he would be rolling and finishing non-stop.

I believe Jerebko and Taylor haven't joined Swedish squad yet (they will though). Should be pretty one sided either way.
