Brook: "Check your egos at the door"

Post#1 » by Paradise » Tue Aug 13, 2013 12:28 am

Brook's full interview from the G-Shock event party last week.

How's the foot, man?

It's doing well, man. I actually lose the boot soon. Finally. Been waiting for that day.

It's something minor, right?

Yeah, nothing big. So they went in there, put a bigger screw in it, it was lucky honestly because I had no pain. I didn't have pain the whole time. And we caught it just because of the post-season x-ray. We saw the screw bent in there. We decided that was better to do something now before something real bad happens.

That could've led to something worse?

Something much worse. We needed a week after the season ended to get the most possible time to heal and let myself get back in shape and ready to go.

How excited are you about this season?

Oh my goodness. You have no idea. Honestly, I caught myself dreaming about playing basketball wth these guys, and even being at practice and training camp hanging out with these guys, it's gonna be a heckuva experience.

Once you were healthy last year you had a good season. What are some of your goals
this upcoming year?

The bottom line is to win. Improve on 49 games. I think we could definitely improve over that. And really just learn from the guys on our team. When you look we have Deron, Joe, Reg [Reggie Evans] and then you look at guys like KG, Andrei Kirilenko, Paul, Jason Terry, just keep going down the list. These are guys I can learn from and help me grow my game, help me grow my team game.

Have you learned anything from them yet?

Just talking to Paul just today or hearing these other guys talking, just how focused they are, how excited they are and how set they are. It's all about winning. There are no egos. Check your egos at the door. We're out there to go and win.

Sounds awesome. Brook seems like a low-maintenance guy. I really think our team is in the mold of the 2011 Mavericks or the 2004 Pistons, in that we have a ton of talented guys and very few ego's. We've just got to keep our health together and hope our Coach adjusts to the job quickly.

I like what I hear for the most part. The only thing that bothers me is what he said regarding his foot.

The fact that it could've definitely become something much worse has me worried a bit.

Playing with champions like Paul and KG will be the best thing for this kid's career.

I have a feeling he won't bitch out this year like he did at the end of last season.
