The problem isn't necessarily the backs. It's investing 2 high picks (last year, + Alex Green a couple years ago) in RBs without addressing the lack of run blocking. Picking Larry Warford over Eddie Lacy probably would have done more for the running game.

They weren't going to take a guard in the 2nd round after just handing out pricey extensions to both Sitton and Lang.

We agree on concerns about Franklin, but i liked the Lacy pick. Unlike Franklin who was more of a jack of all trades but not great at anything back, Lacy is a big back with feet, vision, and enough speed for his size to create yards even with mediocre blocking is happening.

It also hasn't helped the line that run blocking from the TE position has been mostly poor and Kuhn isn't much of a lead blocker either.

Warford would have played center, IMO.

We also could have possibly played Lang at C (he has practiced there different times). Or Warford at RG and Lang at RT.

Still, I'm happy with Lacy at the end of the 2nd.

Warford is gigantic, so I'm not sure how well he'd adapt to a system that isn't focused on power running plays. He might have trouble as a pass blocker in the pros as well.

Warford was very good against the Jets in the first preseason game, fwiw.
