Rate My Team Thread

Post#1 » by Shady Franchise » Mon Aug 12, 2013 3:30 pm

Would be nice to have a 'Rate My Team' thread to post on, instead of everyone making a new topic for it. Let's see if this sticks.

I'm in a 10 team league. 1 qb, 2 rb, 3 wr, 1 te, 1 k, 1 dst standard scoring. I picked 3rd overall and 1st round has to be a keeper (Spiller, Lynch, or Megatron) from last years roster. I took a chance with Spiller and his upside. Landed SJax in the 2nd and AJ Green in the 3rd....

Starters:
QB Luck
RB Spiller
RB Sjax
WR AJ Green
WR Cruz
WR Milke Williams TB
TE J Cook
K B Walsh
DST Denver

Bench:
Big Ben
Reggie Bush
L Miller
Vereen
Vincent Brown SD
Broyles Det
Dobson

A little worried about my WR3 and TE. Thoughts?

Id be thrilled to have your team how you got that many quality RBs is beyond me. Cook should have a good year and if he doesn't I am sure you can pick up a guy like Dustin Keller to off the wire to provide decent points each week. Your top 2 Wrs are Studs and you should be able to trade for another one with those RBs or pluck one off the waiver wire some time this year.

Not a fan of Jared Cook. He just never produces consistently. I learned my lesson last year with him.

Other than that, you did very well.

Thanks guys. Ya, I didn't realize how deep your team can be in a 10 team league, until I played a 12 team league! I appreciate the comments and I look to add depth @ TE. Notable FA TEs are:

F Davis
D Keller
H Miller
Eifert
Cameron
Fleener
Gresham

So I didn't pick up a Kicker, gonna wait on that until we are closer to the season, opening up a roster spot by either doing a 2-1, 3-2 trade or simply dropping one of my excess RBs.

No backup QB selected. By the time I got around to it everyone already had picked there QBs so I figure I can wait until later to pick one off waivers when Brees is on his bye week. (Tannehill and Freeman are currently available)

A bit weak on my WRs but I'm hoping I'll only be starting 2 of them on any given week.

That's an interesting strategy. I see no point in getting a QB2 just to have one on the roster, so you might as well wait like you said. Kickers can be added before the season starts as well. You're right too, your RB depth makes up for the lack of WR depth as you can plug in 4 RBs into your starting lineup. Also, Vincent Brown is a nice sleeper with huge upside, especially if Floyd misses any time in the regular season! I like Shorts and Sanders a lot too. Your TE can be an area of concern if Gresham loses out the starting job to the rookie Eifert (spelling?). You might end up swapping him out for the rookie later in the year if he takes over.

How many teams?
First of all the positives, amazing recieving core. By the looks of it you scooped up RG3 in the 5th or 6th round. Which is solid value.3 good running backs but a huge drop off afterwards.

Negatives- Why draft 2 tight ends? and why on goods green earth pick the Chargers on defence? My guess is this might even be an 8/10 man league in which cause you have no reason to touch the chargers.

I agree with what TheRealistGM said, except I can see 2 TEs because Gates is injury prone. I would like to see a better backup for RG3 in case he gets hurt, maybe an Eli or Romo, but I understand if they weren't available with a later pick. And the Chargers DST must be a homer pick because even in a 12 team league, there are 12 better DSTs than the Chargers.

Not a fan to be honest. Stafford is going to throw the ball a lot, but he does get injured quite often and in general I just don't like him.

Spiller is a nice pickup though. I assume he was your first pick?

The days of CJ2K are done. I have no faith in him ever returning to his former glory just because he's lost all focus.

Dustin Keller is out for the season... so...

Reggie Bush could be good if the Lions actually start running the ball.

Bush will get goalline touches and short yardage carries for the Bears and not much else, I bet.

The rest of your bench is solid though. Hilton and Flacco can both be productive.

I actually like it a good deal outside of Wallace. I'd start Smith ahead of Wallace. Stafford is fine and your backs are great. CJ2K started slow last year but was a top 5 guy over the second half of the year. The Titans also upgraded their O-Line so he likely won't have another slow start. I'm a big fan of Reggie this year. He had 5 catches in a quarter and a half of the last pre-season game. He may not put up 1000 on the ground again but it will be Bush or Sproles leading RBs in catches this year. Andre Brown is nice depth. I like Hilton a lot too. I think he's got a solid chance at being a WR2 this year. I'd see if you could trade Wallace for V Davis, Gronk, Tony or Witten. He's replacable with Smith and Hilton on your bench. I'd drop Flacco. Its not like you'll ever start him over Stafford and if Stafford goes down, they're will be guys of Flacco's caliber on the wire. No need to waste a roster spot.

What's the size of the league? I'm assuming 10 team, and I like it if that's the case. If its a 12 team league, you have a good shot at being dominant. Real nice receivers and your RBs are above average. Since you're going to be able to start Miller or Jordy (or Mathews if he can get his **** together) every week in your flex I'd look to move Wallace + Gates for a mid round TE. Also, drop the Chargers D and pick up a defense with a better Week 1 match up. I personally like the Browns since they get Miami at home Week 1 and Miami's offense has looked messy in camp.

Thanks! I think i'll keep flacco, in case of injury (though if i find someone good on the waiver he'll be gone). Also i have eifert now due to keller being out. Wallace i will look to trade.

No idea how you got Bush and Miller on top of Spiller/SJax/Green/Cruz but well done. If you want to upgrade WR, you can probably get someone to bite on Miller or Bush (I'd prefer to give up Miller) + M Williams. I like Cook so I think you're fine but again you could try Cook + Vereen or something for an upgrade. I don't see any holes really. Good job.

Great RB depth (I like to stack up on RBs as well) but not balanced enough. I like Gio a lot so I say trade Bradshaw for an upgrade at WR. I like Shorts but Shorts + Bradshaw could probably get you someone nice. Otherwise you'll be at a disadvantage most weeks at WR. Any other TE's available? Gresham doesn't look rosterable to me this year. Is Sudfield still out there? I'd prefer him. He should get a solid amount of targets since he's going to play Hernandez's role this year.
