I was skeptical at first, but after trying it a couple times, I've become a big Smart Water fan. I usually freeze a couple bottles before we hoop outside and it is really hydration you can feel.

I'm always wary of a company selling water with high priced half naked women. Just think of how much money they need to make off of markup for this advertising strategy to make sense. Filtered tap water is fine for me.

It's actually quite tasty with the added electrolytes. I do filtered tap mostly as well, but sometimes Smart Water just hits the spot. Give it a try on a really hot day hooping outside.

Only two of us showed for ball tonight so we did 1 on 1 full court outside. It was awesome.

I stopped running after my last race. I did my standard two-weeks-off routine, but it turned into going on 10 months off now. I've put on 30 pounds, now sitting at 185 (standing 6'). I want to get back into the routine but it's **** difficult, even for someone who was a regular runner for almost two years. Oh, it's a perfect night outside to run at twilight? Cool, I'll watch TV instead.

Ok, guys. Need some advice. For those that know me, know I'm in pretty good shape. I lift weights 4 times a week, run about 2 miles every day and play soccer rec and competitive a couple times a week as well.

Now onto the question. I've NEVER, in all my life, taken any protein or suppliments. I've maintained a pretty good physique just doing my normal routine and eating like crap. However, my metabolism is sure to die down and I'm not getting any stronger at the gym. I've been thinking about taking some protein suppliments, but since i've never even thought about taking anything i have no idea where to even start. Any advice?

I would just start with whey protein isolate and dramatically change your lifting routine. What do you do now?

If you're not going for bulk try IsoPure. It's zero carbs and removes a ton of additives.

For a pre-workout I like Hyper FX. I used to take Jak3d but it gives me the shakes and I can't fall asleep if I take it after 7 pm. Modern BCAA is good to mix in your water during your workouts when you lift heavy and helps dramatically with recovery. A test supplement would be good for you too if you are changing your lift routine and help you get results early. I'd recommend TBomb. Most powders are crap though.

I'm trying to gain and I try to make sure I eat one chicken breast and one steak per day. Pricy but for a skinny guy like me it's essential.

Also, if you've never had a protein supp before, be prepared to have it make a circus out of your stomach for the first 2 weeks to a month. Like serious, embarrassing gas. Almost unavoidable. And make sure you always have a bathroom readily accessible and carry a book of matches on you.

Keepin it real.

Over the long weekend, I decided to switch to a new pre-workout supplement and really enjoyed it. It's NDS ACG3:

I've only been using it a couple days, but the pink lemonade tastes great. It's very much like country time lemonade and I've gotten a very even energy source from it. Also it helped put up some new weight over the weekend and so far, no crashes off it.

I used two scoops mixed with water, 30 minutes before lifting and was very satisfied. I am also not exceptionally sensitive to caffeine but I wouldn't take this too late at night as you should feel a real lift in energy.

It is a little expensive, but worth it to me.

Couple of tips for those using supplements, Costco is carrying two packs of C4, 30 dose tubs, for 38.98. Thats basically a two for one price. They ran an $8 dollar off coupon last week making two tubs $30, really good deal. They only carry Fruit Punch but for that price I stocked up. Grafton had it for sure, I am sure they all did though as it was a coupon.

Sam's club had GNC Amplified Wheybolic in the 2.5 Lb Tubs for $22 in Chocolate and Vanilla. About half a GNC sale, while I prefer Truteins designer flavors like Cinnabon and Pumpkin Pie, those two are are basic flavors and the GNC Whey is good stuff calorie and mix wise.

Sam's also had the GNC Ripped multifuel multivitamins cheap 180 pills $20, the Thermo igniter 180 pills for $20, and a few other items I don't use. Much , Much cheaper there than GNC. The Store near 76th and Good Hope had this stuff but all have had the Whey anyway.

I moved my bike in doors and I'm starting to run instead. How slowly should I increase my distances/duration?

At whatever rate you are most comfortable with. I'd just go for runs without having a predetermined distance. You'll naturally begin to run farther and more often as you get in better shape. When people ask me how I can run so much, I tell them to just start with running a mile or two every other day. Don't stop to walk and run at a comfortable pace. Keep doing it until you feel like a fool for running such a short distance. Then incrementally increase your mileage as the runs become easier and easier. I pretty much followed this strategy all the way up to my first marathon a couple of months ago.

If you want to get serious about running, I highly suggest you purchase a NIKE+ GPS Watch. It's like $150, but it's significantly cheaper than other GPS watches and it does an awesome job tracking your runs. And make sure you have a good pair of running shoes.

I went out looking for the Adidas Boost Energy but struck out. Ended up getting the Brooks Glycerin 11 instead.

Whatever works for you. A couple of years ago I had a stress fracture from running too much while also playing a lot of basketball. So I went to a running shoe fitter in Madison (Movin' Shoes) and they set me up with Nike's Air Pegasus because it has the most cushioning. I'm on my second pair and they seem to work well. They aren't the most attractive running shoe, but anything to avoid stress fractures, they really suck.

Yea, for years my concern was my knee. Every summer I'd try it out and I couldn't make it two blocks without screaming pain. It's how I got into biking instead. But for the hell of it I tested a jog out a couple weeks ago and it didn't hurt. So yea, then the concern went to the feet. I had a combination of stress fractures and shin splints one summer playing baseball and **** if I ever want to go through that **** again.
