Re: Official Trade Thread - Part XXIV
Nene has been a good, productive player even while injured.
Perkins has not been good or productive even when healthy. PJ3 has yet to be good or productive even in college.
Try again.

Re: Official Trade Thread - Part XXIV
^ Exactly. Saying "Nene sucks now" is going overboard. He's a 14/7 guy with decent defense and high BBIQ when healthy. The injuries are obviously an issue, but it's not like he has zero value.
I think that most of us would be open to a Nene trade if it was the right deal. But trading him for Perkins (a guy that actually sucks AND is still on a multi-year deal) plus a guy in PJ3 that has done nothing to live up to his previous hype just doesn't add up at this point. Acquiring picks is always a good thing, but any of the ones OKC would send are just too low IMO.
Now if you can find a deal of Nene for an expiring contract and a lottery pick, you'll probably find that folks are a lot more interested. Or if we get to next summer and you want to discuss trading a still oft-injured Nene for a then expiring Perkins and an improved PJ3 plus a pick, you might have a more positive response.

Asik to the Wizards
Illyasova to Houston
Ariza to Milwaukee
I like Asik on this team. But it would only be helpful if Seraphin improves greatly and plays PF (which I think is more of his natural position).
Asik/Okafor
Nene/Seraphin
Not perfect but... it does protect us if Okafor jumps ship next year.

Re: Official Trade Thread - Part XXIV
^ See, I'd rather just keep Ilyasova for ourselves and move Nene back to C in that scenario. Having Asik improves us, but it still leaves us with the same need for a floor spacing big (moving Seraphin to PF doesn't accomplish that either).
If Houston had more bad contracts, I'd see if they'd take Okafor for Asik+filler so they can have some flexibility next summer. I guess you could put Lin in that category. Would MIL be interested in Lin? Maybe a 3-way:
Wizards trade: Okafor, Ariza, Seraphin, and 2014 first
Wizards receive: Ilyasova and Asik
Bucks trade: Ilyasova, Udoh, and Knight
Bucks receive: Ariza, Seraphin, Lin, and Wiz 1st
Rockets trade: Asik and Lin
Rockets receive: Okafor, Udoh, and Knight
The lynchpin would be Lin - how much does MIL like him versus how much does HOU want to get rid of him. I love it for us, obviously. Especially if we can convince Nene to take a bench role.
Asik/Nene
Ilyasova/Nene
Webster/Porter
Beal/GRJ
Wall/Maynor
Our frontcourt would be set for a while, and we'd be a 3rd guard away from being really good IMO.

Re: Official Trade Thread - Part XXIV
Here's an alternate version where we keep Ariza, and swap Porter for Knight:
Wizards trade: Okafor, Porter, and 2014 first
Wizards receive: Ilyasova, Asik, and Knight
Bucks trade: Ilyasova and Knight
Bucks receive: Porter and Lin
Rockets trade: Asik and Lin
Rockets receive: Okafor and Wiz 1st
Milwaukee probably makes out a little better, but we're still relying on Houston to want to dump Lin enough to essentially trade Asik for a low first round pick.
Asik/Nene
Ilyasova/Nene
Ariza/Webster
Beal/Webster
Wall/Knight
If Knight makes progress, and we can bring back Ariza on a reasonable deal, that team would be good for a while IMO. Especially if a bench role helps Nene stay healthy.

That one is awful for us. THe first one I could live with. No way in the world do I trade Porter(not to mention also trading our 1st) for those guys. That team isn't going to win us a championship. It may get us a little farther in the playoffs.... but better to keep Porter and build him with Wall and Beal. This would be a bad bad move.

Don't see a need to acquire both Young and Ilyasova. One or the other is good, two is overkill.
Also, Houston hangs up the phone and puts a block on all calls coming from Washington DC.

WAS is loaded with SF's, what would it take for Ariza? Brown + what else?

We're loaded with good SF's, so we probably want back something good.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

Equivalent talent in a big, either PF or C. Probably need to get a third team involved -- I don't see anything on the Phoenix roster that would make it worthwhile for the Wizards to trade Ariza.

What about trade with LAL? (or 3-way trade with SAC who's sitting on Patrick Patterson)
WAS — Jordan Hill
LAL — Trevor Ariza
WAS — Jordan Hill
LAL — Trevor Ariza

I would definitely consider a trade that sent out Ariza and brought back Patrick Patterson.

SAC's ridiculous with the PF spot, I could see them coming off Patterson. Why not Hill though?

I don't trust Jordan Hill's numbers given the extremely low minutes played. He's also 2 years older.
Patterson is a true "stretch four" that would spread the floor for Wall, plus he has that Kentucky connection, which may make it easier to lure Cousins to DC next summer as a free agent. A year from now, I'd be very pleased with the following lineup:
PG Wall/Maynor
SG Beal/Webster
SF Webster/Porter
PF Patterson/Nene
C Cousins/Nene

PP could be a "long term" solution as a stretch four, eh? I worry about his defensive and rebounding abilities, but such are the sacrifices that typically comes with that stretch four, right?
I wonder though, if he's going to be a RFA after this season -- one which SACTO is unlikely to match -- does it make sense to give up an asset to get him? I guess it depends on Porter a bit. If Otto comes along quickly and Ariza is truly redundant and gone after this year, then perhaps it makes sense.
It's just important to consider what it would cost to retain Patterson. I suppose in that sense, holding his RFA rights would have some value.

I understand. You think SAC would take Hill (who can also play C) then send WAS Patterson? I ask because like I said they're overloaded at that spot anyway and could afford to trade 1 of their many PF's for another decent C.
