He definitely researches stuff like this. He might be being a bit glib in saying 'MKG can't shoot' instead of 'it's always a good idea for a defense to let MKG shoot,' but you can be sure that Lowe has checked his figures and confirmed that MKG is a bad midrange shooter.

EDIT: found this on Grantland, stop me if you've already seen it:

MKG's shooting is so overblown to make him out to be a low-ceiling player though. There are countless examples of people improving from really bad to solid shooters in the NBA over the course of their career. Literally MKG's only flaw is shooting. You can't teach elite first step, basketball IQ, rebounding IQ, ball handling, and great physicality/size but you can teach shooting. (I'm not saying he's Lebron) I'd rather have a Lebron James who has no shot and can't shoot outside 5 feet than Dorell Wright or Klay Thomspon

Exactly!!! Plus we have an all-time great teaching him how to shoot. They guy is incredibly talented and his only weakness is shooting (which admittedly is just awful), but that's remedied easier than trying to turn a guy into a defensive player, or a post player, or a rebounder. If he can shoot as well as Marion or Wallace, I'm more than satisfied.

Excellent article; fair and insightful. The worry with Hyphen is how bad his shot is warped. Price has intimated just how bad it was, and they recognize it will take time. Can it be fixed? Price thinks he can be taught proper technique, so long as he can adapt the lessons into muscle memory. Easier said than done. Plus, technique alone will not automatically transform into a quality shooter. But, he has a lot of pure ability that will help.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Jefferson, Tolliver, Pargo = Milwaukee model.

CHA mgmt asked me as a fan to be patient. I was. They weren't.

I like every guy on this team (except Expiring and Deadwood) and am ready to root for them all:

Kemba, Ramon, Pargo, Hendo, Viking, MKG, Rex, Al Jeff, Biz, McBob, ATrain.

Um...wake me when we trade away our assets or let them walk via free agency.

And LOL at criticizing the Tolliver and Pargo signings.

Well, hopefully we don't trade away MKG for an average SG who won't resign with us when the season ends. Thats the Milwaukee model.

Jefferson would kill any of the Bucks bigs, and Pargo and Tolliver are just roster fillers making the vet minimum

yea his shooting is way overblown, its better to have a guy that cant shoot than a guy that shoots like a crazy man and shoots a low % while hes doing it like Monta Ellis and Byron Mullens
