last year we had 8 if I remember correctly. but this year we are starting even earlier so I thought maybe people would like more time. but 8 is fine by me, 6 is a bit short imho.

And, as for your question: The picks are official, but the draft doesn't "officially" start until Saturday morning 12:01 AM.
