Cool article from an espn writer reaching out to Dre to adopt the underhand form.

He should do them, but he won't.

Yes please Genius move
You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.
Weaver & Casey, govern yourselves accordingly!

Possibly wishful thinking but I'd rather have him work on the standard method of shooting free throws as that would also be more in line with developing a dependable mid-range jumper as well.

The other thing to consider is the sheer number of catcalls and jeers he would get for doing 'potty shots'. I know that in an ideal world he shouldn't be affected by this, but he's still young. The last thing you really want to mess with is a guy's confidence at that age...

This is Andre's chance to be groundbreaking. He doesn't even have to shoot a 2 handed "granny" shot he can just do a 1 handed toss. If you ever played around on a nerf hoop or mini hoop, you will see that the underhand toss is more accurate than trying to shoot traditionally. Andre is so big its like he's playing on a mini hoop with a nerf ball.

As long as he gets his FT% significantly up, I don't care if he long-snaps them into the hoop. I also doubt he would ever try this, but he will need to improve here to become the player we all think he can be.

Unless he'd hit them at an 80% clip, I think pride would get in the way, and probably rightly so. Shooting conventionally he should be able to get around 50% one has to hold out hope for yet.

I'd love to see him try this.

I wonder if palming the ball and throwing it like a beer pong shot would be effective? His standing reach isn't quite high enough to throw down, but that would be funny to see

Shaq did something like the beer pong shot for quite a while, looked even worse than a normal FT stroke and didn't seem to help him at all.

I would hope teams using the Hack-A-Shaq method and him bricking FTs would hurt his pride more.

Im sure people first thought it would look goofy to perform the high jump back-first until they started to get beat by someone doing it. If Drummond did this and it worked, I wouldn't surprised if tons of others started doing the same thing over the years.

Shaq should've let Rick Barry teach him how to do it, but instead he told him "I'd rather shoot 0% than shoot them underhanded". As for Drummond, he needs to get a call from the 6"11 George Johnson, who was the last guy to do it consistently.

Are you serious, Kilo? Drummond aint in 5th grade any more, if he wants to do something that some people think doesn't look cool, he should be a grown man and do it. It's not like he'd be sh*tting on the parquet floor or playing in a diaper or something, he'd be trying to score as much as possible and win as much as possible. What could be more manly than that?
