Dwyane Wade Plans To Sign Long-Term With Heat
Aug 15, 2013 10:51 PM EDT

Dwyane Wade plans to sign another long-term deal with the Miami Heat.

Wade, along with LeBron James and Chris Bosh, is likely to opt-out after the 2013-14 season.

"I'm not going to deal with it," Wade said of the speculation that will envelop James. "I'm going to address it on media day and that'll be the last time I address it. But obviously it's a part of it."

Wade has spent all 10 of his NBA seasons in South Florida.

"Everyone knows where I want to be," he said. "That's what it's all about to me, is making sure we focus on this season, winning this championship.

"I want to be in Miami and I have nothing else to talk about. So there won't be no exciting news over here."

============================================

I know that Bosh in the past said he wouldn't mind ending his career in Miami...if we gave Wade, say $10M per year, and gave LeBron the Max (how much is the max?), what kind of contract could the Heat give Bosh?

Wade is not going to take another paycut. If anything, I see him trading money on the first couple of seasons in exchange for more guaranteed years. Bosh might do something similar now just to stay in Miami. As for LeBron, I can see him making a small and calculated sacrifice ( a la 2010) for the team to be able to sign role players with future opt outs.

They all will opt out and re-sign for less money.

I can see Wade, Bosh and LBJ all opting out and then each resigning for a 15Mil$ per year for 5 years deal.

Wade - Basically this spreds out his contract, make him heat for life, plays with us untill he's 37Yo then retires as HOF. he doesn't really give up any money because he's going to overpaid in his last years.

Bosh - Same, he's not a true superstar and i think he understands that, not sure he'll get a much better deal then other teams. He might be able to get a little more somewhere else, but he likes it here..i think he prefers to stay for a small paycut.

Lebron - Doesn't really need to few extra Mil$ he could get elsewhere, he make much bigger money off the court..his heat salary is not his main income. He does care about winning and legacy, and taking this paycut will allow him to stay in a place he like with teamates he knows and a system he trust.

So imagine the Miami Heat Team Payroll for 2014-2015 as something like :

Wade - 15
Bosh - 15
Lebron - 15
Birdman - 1.5
Cole - 2
Joel - 0 (traded)
Haslem - 2 (opt out, spreads contract to help is maxamise cap space addition)

In total = 51 Mil.

Salary cap is expeted to be at around 59-60 Mil. So we have about 8-9 Mil to spend on quality additions. Key names : Kyle Lowry, Gortat, Bougot.

Then i believe we could use the full MLE too because we'll stay under the luxury tax threshold. so that's another 5Mil per year contract. Could be used on Rio, Oden, Brandon Rush, depends on how things works out and our needs.

If we play it smart (and i trust pat that we will) i expect the 2014-2015 team to be even stronger then this year's team.

^There are roster cap holds and you have to waive the MLE for cap space.

Roster cap holds will only add up to a few Mil, and what do you mean by " you have to waive the MLE for cap space"?

Why are you talking so factually about something that you don't understand and may not even be a question next year?

Leave it till next off-season.

Just like that he addressed it, saying there won't be no speculation in this camp... I plan on staying in South Beach long term.

I hope he backloads his contract, we need cap space next summer to reload. Ray will prob be gone. Shane is getting old. We need to reload for another run at it for 4-5 years. We need that cap space but Wade does deserve his money, i just hope it comes later in his career. Hope he doesnt ask for the max those years tho, no offense. But hes not that type of player anymore. And I cant see Lebron taking 15 mil, thats ridiculous. He deserves at least 18-19

This is good. It sets the tone for the other two. I'd Wade stays, I can't see the others going anywhere. He was the glue that brought them all together.

The MLE is an exception that takes up cap space, so if we wanna have cap space, we have to waive it (meaning we won't have it).

There's an under-the-cap $2.5m exception though, which you can use after using your cap space.

I think expecting all three guys to sign for 45 million is overly optimistic. Plus that would really only save Arison money. Now if we had saved up Miller's expiring contract and cashed that with other expirings in for a guy who also needed a new contract then it would make sense. If its just about taking money out of Lebron's pocket to put it in Arison's then screw that. Arison has much more money and Lebron earned his instead of being born into it. If taking less money can help the team then I'm all for it. If its just to line Arison's pocket (like this offseason) then I would rather the players take all they can get.

Arison has earned his. Not just born into it.

Arison has also made the Heat champions. Without him we never even get our first.

Some respect for Arison please.

I can't imagine Bosh taking a paycut with all of the crap he puts up with to be here. Lebron and Wade...yeah. Bosh, no.

I can't imagine media criticism being being a serious factor in Bosh decision to take a paycut or not

I can see them all in front of Riley asking for the Max. Riley fires them brings in a bunch of Euros to fill the team void lol.

Ted Arison was one of the richest people in the world. It quite literally says that on his Wikipedia to the point that you will think I just inserted it in. How is that not being born into wealth, especially compared to Lebron, Wade or Bosh?

Arison hasn't made the Heat into champions.

I respect him, I just don't deify him. I also would rather have money go to the players rather than his pocket. Its already filled with his dad's money.
