Chase Headley has struggled this season after his breakout 2012 campaign, lowering his long-term value as he enters his final winter of arbitration.
"This game is not easy," Headley said. "I knew the second half of last season was going to be tough to duplicate. And I expect to be a lot closer to those numbers in the future. As to what's happening right now, I can't totally explain it."
This might be a good time for the San Diego Padres to sign Headley to a contract extension, while his value has dropped.
