Q's Gronk and Crabtree

Post#1 » by collado1121 » Sun Aug 18, 2013 3:26 am

I know that the RB's are the first to go. I know that WR's and QB's are deep enough to wait until past the 4th round. But I would like to get a couple of opinions.

1. Do you take a chance on Gronk on one of your late picks?

2. Do you take a chance on Michael Crabtree? Rumor is that He will come back in Nov.

3. High risk reward MJD? He always says that hes feeling good at the beginning of the year lol..

4. When is it good to draft Defense.

My draft is ESPN not Yahoo.

this is a $50 draft, 10 people. My plan is:
1. Snag RB's early as possible.
2. Get Megatron/Dez Bryant/Marshall/Green as WR
3. QB not until 5th round. I believe people will take some in the 3rd round like Rodgers,Brees,Newton. I think RG3, Brady, Luck will fall..

Your step by step plan is good, take RBs early and it's always nice to snag an elite WR.

I wouldn't touch Crabtree because even if he comes back in November (which I highly doubt) he'll have a hard time playing well right away and will have to be eased back into the lineup. On the other hand, if Gronk falls to you late snag him right away, they say that he could be ready to go Week 1. I would've taken him in the 4-6th rounds if he fell in my draft.

Whats your thoughts on Snagging Jimmy Graham?

1st round.. Im looking at AP,Foster,Lynch, Spiller,
2nd round: what ever Elite QB remains
3rd: Green/Dez/Marshall/Megatron
4th: Jimmy Graham/or WR
5th: WR/QB.

I put Graham in the same boat as Gronk, if he's there in round 4 then pull the trigger. I do see a problem with your list however: I don't think that the elite WRs are gonna be there in the 2nd round. I'd suggest that you take one of those elite WRs in the 2nd round and wait till like the 4-5th round to take a QB (If you don't take Gronk or Graham in round 4). Great QBs such as Ryan, Romo, RG3, Luck, Wilson, and possibly even Brady should be there in the 4-5th round. In my 12 person league I got RG3 in round 5. Be patient when it comes to QBs this year and fill up on quality RBs/WRs early. As a side note I'd suggest taking Tavon Austin if/when he slips, the dude is the ultimate sleeper imo. He's the only quality WR for the Rams and is clicking with Sam Bradford, I have high hopes for him this season.

Zero chance any of those guys are around in the 3rd. Julio or Thomas might drop but not any of those 4. Also zero chance Jimmy is there in the 4th. Jimmy is going in the first in some 12 team leagues. His range is late first to early third and definitely closer to mid second in most drafts).

Personally I like to Stud RB in the first. One of the top 4 WR in the second. And then RB/WRs until about the 7th where Romo and Luck will still likely be around (especially in a 10 team league). Unless your league is full of noobs no one will be taking a backup QB before then.

To answer the OP:

1) I like Gronk. Not sure where he's ranked on ESPN but Yahoo has him in the 7th round. I'm fine with grabbing him in the 5th and then getting a guy like Cook or Cameron later to fill in while Gronk is out. I like the Gronk pick this year. He was significantly better than Jimmy on a per game basis last year. If you have Gronk on your team during the fantasy playoffs you are in real good shape.

2) Nope. They'll bring him along slowly when he does get back and you can probably find a better use of his roster spot sometime in the first 12 weeks.

3) As far as MJD, I don't hate him but I wouldn't take him mid-second which is where he usually goes. Third sure, but I don't see him as a better option than guys like Gore or Bush who you can get in the 3rd.

4) I personally just stream them. I can't justify taking a defense over 8th to 10th round position players. I look to them in the last two rounds and just usually grab a defense that has a nice Week 1 match up.
