Webb has not been good. However I think he has to make the team with an 8 man line. I would not write Webb off just yet.

Webb needs to get it together, and he needs to show that promise that made him a top Tackle at texas.

I'm not saying this draft is as good because I really don't know about Mills who is in right now by default. And the jury is out on quality for the others. I'm only saying nice job Mr Emery.

If those rookies start only because the alternatives are pathetic excuses for NFL players which Emery made zero attempt to upgrade in his first year, then he's still a terrible GM. I'll give Emery credit when the offensive line plays well. Starting two rookies on the offensive line is a move that reeks of desperation.

Emery signed Bushrod and Slauson, and drafted Long with a first round pick. What else would you have liked him to do? Theres only so much money, and the team had plenty of other holes to fill and a lot of high priced veterans.

Are we supposed to completely forget that last year Emery made zero attempt to improve the o-line? We're supposed to give him credit because after a year of failure he decided to try?

You mean the year he brought in a top 5 receiver and another starting receiver when there were no top talents on o-linr in free agency? And oh he brought in Scott who allowed only one sack all year.

The only mistake he made IMO was drafting McClellin over DeCastro, but there is still time to see what McClellin will turn out to be.

I'm talking about the year when he spent 0 draft picks on offensive linemen and said that the offensive line didn't need to be upgraded. I'm glad that he realized that it did need to be upgraded, but he should be penalized for taking a year to realize that the offensive line was his team's biggest weakness.

Bears cut Webb's pay

By Brad Biggs, Tribune reporter
6:04 p.m. CDT, August 18, 2013

J'Marcus Webb lost his starting spot on the offensive line last week — and a pay cut came with it.
The Bears have reduced Webb’s base salary, but he has the opportunity to earn all of the money back through playing-time incentives.

A source with knowledge of the new deal told the Tribune that Webb’s base salary has been slashed from $1.323 million to the minimum for a fourth-year player — $630,000. That represents a savings of $693,000 for the Bears against the salary cap right away. With a tight cap, the Bears likely needed the relief with cornerback Kelvin Hayden going on injured reserve and defensive end Turk McBride receiving an injury settlement.

The move frees up cap space for the Bears immediately and slots Webb at a more appropriate pay level if he is a backup this season now that he has been relegated to the second team. Webb had to agree to take a pay cut. It is possible the Bears advised him he would be released if he did not. He’s still not a lock for the roster.

bunch of bunk last week about the Mills move not being permanent, it was just a look see. I'm a liiiittle disapointed Trestman didn't go all Mike Ditka on him. Reminds me too much of Lovie trying to BS the media. Or at least tell the truth, because the truth sometimes hurts and you need to wake people up and call them out to get them to open their ears, clear out the cobwebs. That said, I'm glad they aren't playing with this guy, because he is so stupid he still might not understand that he is blowing his career being more concerned about social media and girls than football technique. J-Webb Nation, delete your twitter page, put out some hustle, strike people hard, bend your waist and get some solid leverage. Youve got 2 rookies who know how to do that better than you do. The Bears need a backup tackle. Get serious about your cake ass job.

Like I said, I still din't like the fact that he chose McClellin over Decastro, but let's see what happens this season. He is our only speed rusher, which is very important to have if you want to win. The Steelers and Packers have proven recently that you don't necessarily need a good o-line at all to win a superbowl. But every winner of late has had a really good d-line.

Outside of DeCastro there was no real o-line talent in last year's draft or free agency. But he still got a really good pickup in Scott.

It's a shame Scott is hurt because they should have just cut this guy. I guess he will get a chance to show some heart the next couple weeks.

I wonder what team he'll be signing the autograph for because it won't be the Bears.

Seriously, could you imagine being the manager of an employee who keeps screwing up the job day in and day out and every day when he goes home he's tweeting and facebooking about his accomplishments at work? What an idiot.
