Official Philadelphia Eagles Discussion Thread

Post#1 » by JrueHK » Sun Aug 18, 2013 10:01 am

I thought it would be a good idea to start an official Eagles discussion thread on this forum mainly because Eagles forum is dead and would be cool to have something to discuss during the NBA off-season (NBA regular season won't be that exciting that anyways since we are probably going to suck pretty bad). I'm assuming majority of people here are Eagles fans and it would be great if we could get an active discussion going.

I have messaged a mod about this thread and he has told me that he has no real problems creating one however, there is chance that this thread might get moved to the Eagles forum and we can just follow it there.

As for the discussion, I'm really liking how we are looking so far offensively. I'm not pro-vick or pro-foles and I have remained unbiased as possible regarding to the qb competition but I do think Vick will win the starting job. Both have shown confidence and comfortableness when running the offense. However Vick has ran the offense at a much faster tempo than Foles and he also has the athletic edge over Foles.
With that being said, we all know how fragile Vick is and how turnover prone he is, I wouldn't be surprised if Foles takes over the starting spot in the regular season.

I'm very worried about our defense. We couldn't possibly be worse than last year but I don't think we will be any better by the looks of the two preseason games. We absolutely got torched by Brady and the Pats both on the air and the ground. We looked much better against the Panthers but our pass coverage is still a suspect. Our defense still has trouble tackling and covering. For all the trash talking that Cary has done, he hasn't done ****. I really didn't like him when we first signed him because of how loosely he played. He would play like 15 yards off and give numerous first downs. Tackling is supposed to be one of his strength but I haven't really seen that in the two preseason games.

On a positive side, Lesean Shady Mccoy looked like a beast out there with that run.

Nice post.

I'm not expecting much this year. Or defense played well in it's last game but I'm pretty worried about them too. This team again has some awful safeties and that alone will keep them from being a contender. As much as Sconces has upset me this offseason, we need him bad because he does seem like atleast a vocal leader and can play a little bit.

The one thing I don't get is for related to fantasy and that's McCoy now all of a sudden being a second round pick. This offensive line is sick and McCoy, atleast in my opinion, is the 2nd most talented running back in the league now and is entering his prime. Also the eagles are certain to be running the ball more. Yes I get that he will have to share the ball, but the guy is going to get his this year.

Pretty much this but it would be a toss up for me between sheppard and salas, acho and matthews, and I'd add brad wing to the practice squad.
Eagles are going to be a lot better than experts think they will be.

OG: Mathis, Herremans, Barbre, Watkins
C: Kelce, Reynolds -Reynolds, +Vandevelde

DE: Cox, Thorton, Curry, Square
NT: Sopoaga, Logan, Dixon -Dixon
OLB: Cole, Barwin, Graham, McCoy
ILB: Ryans, Kendrick, Knott, Acho

I think they'll sign an OLB from the waiver wire, too, to make 53.

I meant Anderson not Coleman. Disagree with nearly everything else. Having been to many training camps so far, most of the guys you mentioned have been studs in camp such as Tobin, Poyer, Marsh, etc.

Goodness gracious I hope they start Earl Wolff at saftey instead of Nate Allen. Nate seems like he has been playing sooo soft ever since his injury.

Yeah, would like to see Earl and Chung
Nate at best is a backup imo
If Kenny stays healthy, he's a borderline top 5 safety

Agree. Chung has been a tackling machine.
Kenny doesnt look the same. I hope he gets back to form but sadly I dont see any signs of that right now.

Love K42's heart , but if he makes the team I will cry. Dude is undersized, and is a bowling pin. Constantly on his back getting run over.

Yeah exactly my thought
Love his fire and passion but he's just not fit for NFL physically

As for the cb, Bradley played decent but I'm not really liking Cary. Never really liked him due to his attitude and his playing style is making me worry.

The simple fact that the DB's this year are in the area and for the most part from what ive seen so far , actually covering , is a complete difference from last year. Fletcher looks like he is inches away from making int's half the time.

Also the safeties are making tackles. Chung has been good so far. Not seeing Coleman this year will be a huge improvement

I absolutely love the fact that Chung seeks contact and wants to drop the hammer on people. Seriously we havent had a guy like that back there since.....Dawkins. Not saying he is B-Dawk obviously , but the fact that he is a physical player , LOVE it.

note: Dont watch this around kids or in the workplace , music has explicit language. Or just mute it and enjoy the carnage.

Let's go Mike. I hope though that while Chip tells Mike he's the QB for the season, that he tells him to keep playing like there's a fire under his *#%. That's a huge difference in his play. When he knows he has to fight. Due to Vick's skill set he doesn't always have to try hard, but damn, when he does try, he is partly unstoppable.

Vick it is! With Maclin out what's Ochocinco been up to lately? Anybody think we should at least take a look at him?

Id be interested in him but I think from the teams standpoint , he is more of a distraction in the locker room than he is a threat on the field. I think it would be great to get some size that will go over the middle to put opposite DJack but I think the team is happy with Cooper because he does a good job blocking down field. On top of that , he is big and he can go across the middle.lol

Once these roster cuts start happening , I wouldnt be surprised if we scooped up a WR and maybe even a saftey.
