Post#1 » by Paradise » Tue Aug 20, 2013 8:41 pm

Rod Boone ‏@rodboone 29m

#Nets announce Jason Kidd has added John Welch, Joe Prunty and Charles Klask to his coaching staff.

Mike Mazzeo ‏@MazzESPN 14m

Kidd's staff is huge: Frank, Welch, Rogers, Hughes, Prunty, Klask ... that's SIX ASSISTANTS #Nets

Welch - Lead Assistant under George Karl's Nuggets last season and his former role: conditioning, developing players and offensive structure.

Prunty - Assistant under Bryon Scott's Cavs last season. 14 years experience formerly with the Spurs, Mavs, Blazers.

Klask - Assistant under Lawrence Frank's Pistons last season and is the analytical guru.

Our best assistant coach last season, Doug Overton stays and gets a promotion as well.

Rod Boone ‏@rodboone 33m
Congrats to #Nets assistant coach Doug Overton on being named head coach of #Nets @nbadleague team (@ArmorHoops).

COach Fra... err Kidd will have plenty of help.

Let's be real, Frank will be head coach while Kidd gets acclimated as HC. He will be learning the in and outs throughout the year.

This is going to be a boom or bust year for Opie's stock as a HC in the future at a different locale.

Unless he transforms into Thibs 2.0 and everyone learns to respect him, I doubt that he'll ever end up being a great head coach. He's always seemed like an awesome #2 type, but never a good #1 type IMO.

I was talking more about his prospective future opportunities.

I don't believe this year will have very little, if any, bearing on his future opportunities.

If we end up having a bad year (in light of our expectations) people can easily reason the main cause being Kidd's inexperience or Kidd's presence as a coach got in the way of Frank's ability to effectively coach the team.

If we end up performing as expected or better than expected, he'd only be praised for being able to win while also teaching Kidd how to be a head coach on the fly.

I see this situation as a win-win for him no matter what.
