There's a point where you can be TOO efficient. If you're shooting 68% on like 7 FGA per game.. take some more damn shots!

I'd rather he shot 55% on 12FGA plus drew a lot more fouls through the added aggression, but I suppose he's just playing within the LTU system.

dude you can only take so many shots playing 20 minutes a game. his scoring better than .5pts a min, like in the 20's per 36 on super high efficiency.

Seems like his added bulk might be hurting his FTs a bit, just looking at the numbers lately.

On 44% shooting and having 5 TOs.

Aminu went beast mode (15/10/4) albeit he had his fair share of TOs and didn't shoot the ball too well either.

Hes been shooting well in SL. I think it can be mental, he is aware his FT% is down, and it ****s with him, he looks unsecured. I think he needs to catch momentum and it all will be fine.

This years Russia is watered down a lot. Mozgov, Kaun, Kirilenko, Khryapa, Bykov aren't playing, their supposed coach also pulled out at the very last second, so they had a lot of fixing to do. Average team at best, on paper.

I'm hoping its a either the muscle fatigue from the added bulk throwing off his touch, or the European rims, and not a mental insecurity - look at what happened to Biedrins and what happens to Dwight Howard in games.

Not that I'm comparing JV's free throw woes to theirs, as I think he's mentally tougher than both of them. More so citing examples of what mental blocks can do, and it's not pretty.

I know it sounds bad, but I think thats exactly what is. I watched Jonas for years, and this have happened before. Never been an unconscious FT shooter. It is noticeable, tho he was never bad, rather inconsistent, and his touch always comes back to him. I am not really worried, but I do think he will never be above 80% for this very reason.

European rims argument is such a reach, its just dumb. Blaming McDonalds for being fat makes more sense. Even when you watch him brick shots, it is not the rim, most of his shots are either too short or too long.

Yeah I just threw the rim reason in there, grasping at straws essentially. Seeing as it's probably just temporary rhythm slump - as long as his FT% is back to around 80% during the season, I'm all ok.

I feel like he tends to go through periods where his FT% dips as well.

Is the size of the ball the same as the NBA's btw?

^ Volcano I spoke about that possibly being a sign of fatigue due to increased post up touches/consistent physical contact. His form hasn't changed at all, so you have to wonder.

Looking at those highlights and the previous game against Macedonia, you can see how defenders are now completely playing him to his right shoulder, they're leaving the entire left side open and daring him to go left. There was one instance in the video above where he caught the ball and they were shading a second defender just incase he went left, he took one dribble left and finished an and1, it's great to see him make those decisions and take what the defense gives him. I'm seeing more doubles/triples coming his way as well, so that's a great sign for us. At this point, you can see that teams absolutely fear his sweeping right hook across the lane because he's dominant at finishing that, so he really has to keep working on counter moves to his left.

Sabonis is not impressed with how the NBA has changed Jonas' game:

"Jonas looks heavy, almost robotic - just take, give, push... He needs to relax and be smoother. We've talked with him, told him that he needs to give an assist, or face the basket up front and not just try to break his opponent by force. That will lead him nowhere if he continues to do so - the opposing players are not weaker. And if there's a double team, then we have a problem. Better to just give the ball back and try again later."

Kid needs time to adjust to his new game. European championship is not the best way to go. Wait till he comes back to NBA he'll become better.

What's funny is that I had lunch with Terrence Ross' agent yesterday. We talked about every possible scenario. Toronto never came up.

I agree with Sabonis..we can't have him dominating weaker players and struggling against stronger ones

JV should watch a lot of Duncan tape. In terms of physique and mobility, I think Duncan comes the closest compared to the other great big men.

He doesn't need to dunk it all the time or do anything fancy. Just stick to the fundamentals, make the easy play. I hope Duncan retires soon so we can hire him as a personal coach.

So we are now wondering if his bulk made him worse player... Not so long ago everyone was happy about him in SL...

This is the third summer that almost every lithuanian is at JV's throat. They never cut him slack, because he was so overhyped at the beginning and you know that those quickly become overhated. Lithuanian basketball people, such as assistant coach or Sabonis just pointing fingers, despite Jonas being most efficient player on national team, while I didn't catch any relevant basketball person criticize any other player of ours. Of course, there is some truth to those words, but why should you make it public? Those guys are constantly around him, just say him and end it, no need to make it public. For this very reason, there might be too much pressure for a guy, like last year during Olympics when he struggled bad. I'm disliking Maskoliunas' and Sabonis' chosen way to go, this is not going to help him.
