James Southerland Signed (pg 3)

Post#1 » by fatlever » Sat Aug 24, 2013 4:05 pm

he is apparently coming to our training camp as undrafted rookie.

I can see why Bobcats would give James Southerland a training camp look. They need shooting. He's 6-8, made 40% from college line as a sr.

Good choice.

James is 6'8 SF/PF and 3 Shooter. The team needs shooters.

And from what I seeing the Bobcats training camp is closed, right?

PG: Kemba, Sessions, Pargo, Gaddy
SG: Hendo, Gordon, Taylor
SF: MKG, Southerland
PF: Zeller, McRob, Tolliver
C: Big Al, Biyombo, Haywood.

15 players.

Somewhat one dimensional as a shooter the few times I watched him, but thats something this team definitely needs.

The team needs more shooters and its interesting that they're looking at shooters with size, Tolliver and now Southerland. I like it.

He'll be a nice change of pace from MKG. He'll spread the floor a bit and with him and Jefferson on the court I think Kemba and Henderson will have lanes they've never seen before in their NBA career.

He mentions playing NYC youth ball with Kemba in this video. I really hope this guy sticks in our 15 spot.

henderson played with mildly ok shooters on the team, but he wasn't an offensive player yet

Southerland's not likely to see the court much, with all the forwards we have on the roster (MKG, Taylor, Zeller, McBob, Tolliver, even Henderson and Jefferson should see minutes at 3 and 4 respectively). I don't see Southerland having any kind of impact, but he's not a bad prospect to bring to camp to see how good he is.

very interesting prospect. reading up on him it looks like he had a chance to be drafted at #58 to none other than the san antonio spurs, but balked at their request that he play in europe for a year or two to polish his game.

Good invite, averaged 11 points in SL and will help us space the floor if he makes the roster.

I dont know a 6'8 guy that can shoot..you will find a way to work him in....we are also thin at SF i can see him getting a few minutes game.

It depends on whether he's a complete one-trick pony like Kapono who is too much of a liability in other areas to keep out on the floor or if he's like a Novak or Korver who can at least hold their own in other areas without being absolutely annihilated.
