BBQ talk this weekend...

Post#1 » by Robertchk » Mon Aug 26, 2013 8:34 pm

Met up with family and friends this last Saturday and boy... all the sports guys could not stopping talking about the upcoming season... mind you, these are NFL guys and I promised myself not to bring up Indiana unless the conversation was brought to me...

some of the comments...

Roy Hibbert sure does look like a beast in that twitter photo.

Will D. Rose come back the same? My opinion is better than before because Thibbs is better than before.

and of course now that my buddy and I picked up season tickets... the repeated comment... do you get Miami at Indy too? lol.... boy this is going to be an exciting season at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

From Chicago to Indiana... LETS GET THIS STARTED FOLKS!

Chicago is excited to see Indy and that helps everyone in the Midwest.

Bulls fan, but all ready looking to buy a Pacers hat!!!

How are ticket sales going for the Pacers, does anybody know?

Generally, teams that make broad "confident" ticket sales statements are feigning strength and really need to sell a ton of tickets. Charlotte did that this offseason.

The Pacers haven't made any statements, but have advertised season tickets. I'd think it's going better than years past. But, I don't know. All conjecture.

Pacers were 5th in the NBA this summer in season ticketholder retention (over 90%), but I don't know how they are doing on new sth's.
I have no idea what you're talking about, and clearly, neither do you.

Recently read the New York Knicks announced their highest renewal rate in 10 seasons of 97% for this upcoming season.

The Pacers news should not be a surprise after considering their playoff run and ticket price; it's the best value in the league.

they also said that the 30% represented 1200 new people. 1200 is 30% of 4000 which is a relatively small fraction of a decent crowd. That tells me that the ratio of single game buyers to season and package buyers was surprisingly high. we're still a far cry from the big market teams that can get almost a full house totally from corporate season tickets alone.

Wizop,

Agree, is there a possibility the 1200 new ticket holders does not represent the people who purchased more than one seat?

For example, I picked up four seats under the same name. Let's just say 50% of people purchased two tickets, this 1200 number is 2400 seats in real numbers.

Thoughts?

you are right that the story doesn't clearly indicate whether the increase is in tickets sold or people buying. most people do buy more than one seat ... although I am one of the exceptions. I'm also one of the people who have not yet renewed. guess it's time to contact my rep to see if they can sell me a less than half season package now.

sounds good. the 11 and 13 game packages are attractive, i simply wanted every post season home game ticket, instead of every other. it provides me with the opportunity to recoup a few bucks on my purchase as i do not need to attend every playoff game.

unless they meet up with the Bulls of course.

I've had tickets for years. I had two half season tickets when my son was young but switched to one full season in the mid 90's when he reached driving age and had other interests than going out with Dad. Come to think of it I had a half interest in a block of four way back in the ABA days before my son was even born. I remember his big sister spending a good portion of each game going to get pizza and exploring MSA. I dropped to half season last year after we closed our office in town and driving in from home wasn't something I wanted to do 40 times a year and I'm planning on dropping further this year although I think I have my next door neighbor talked into buying a seat and driving in together.

I know talking with my Ticket Rep....I got the impression he has been very busy the past couple months selling season pkgs. I feel it's more than 1200 tickets. And my Dad got a 11 game package this year first time in a few years. He is getting older and just wants to go to a few games that he can pick the games. I helped him pick them on Internet and seats were very few in the lower levels already which is unusual. Glad to see it!! Team needs and deserves a great crowd showing. I know last year I had a lot of Bulls and Heat fans around us and we sit in lower level. Lower Level should be full of Pacers like when Reggie was playing!

I had half season last year in section 19 but I want to drop to 11 games and they no longer allow you to buy that package where I was sitting. they do have a 13 game package in the lower bowl but it would cost me much more to buy that than to renew my 21 game half season deal. oh, well. there are three ways to buy 11 game packages. two pages have set games and set seats and the third allows you to pick your games subject to seat availability.
