Also, I think this is a terrible trade for the Raptors. Boozer is a huge definisive liabillity and has the same PER as Amir for 3x the price. Hinrich is running on fumes, Nazr is nothing. The only saving grace would be if there was some guarantee the Bulls would bottom out in 2015.. but with Rose returning I don't see any possibility of that.
We don't need to 'dump' Demar's contract. He'll live up to it - if not this year, then easily the year after. I'm not saying don't trade him, but there's no point in doing it now when his value isn't even close to peak and we definitely shouldn't move him just for cap space.
Same with Fields.. since when is selling a player when his value is at an all time low a good decision? At least give him a chance to show he can play.. he can't be any worse, that's for sure.

Re: Bulls/raptors trade
How about DeMar, Fields and Gray for Deng and N. Mohammed
Rose/ Derozan/ Butler/ Boozer/ Noah
Lowry/ Gay/ Deng/ Johnson/ Valancuanus
Bulls get much needed scoring in Demar and he can ease the pressure to attack the rim off of rose and butler can easily replace Deng defensively. Bulls can amnesty Fields and the raptors can give them some cash back.
Raptors get cap space next summer and easily improve their defence and on top of that they get to unload fields. Raptors can play a bigger lineup for some added defence or they can play small ball with deng and gay at the forward spots.

I can't think of any reason to recommend that trade. There is no talent gain, probably the opposite, and there is no financial relief until the second year, and then only modestly so.

Re: Bulls/raptors trade
The biggest problem is that it's basically just a salary dump because the Bulls future pick won't be very high. But then you still have $16 million of Boozer the following season so it's not even a very good salary dump.
The 2nd problem is that I don't think it would make us significantly worse in 2013-14 for the resulting 'tank', just older.
Fields has negative value, Derozan has limited/neutral value but I think Amir has pretty solid value. I would hope the Raps could do much better for this package.

Yeah it's kind of the worst of all worlds for the Raptors.
They don't get bad enough to gun for a top five pick, they don't pick up any significant young talent (Bulls 2015 draft pick is likely 22nd or later), and they don't get any real financial flexibility in the short term. It's like the ultimate hedge - there direction won't be any more clear after this trade than before it.
BC would be proud though.

Boozer is a legitimate starting pf on a championship calibre team, if he was with the raptors last season he probably wouldve averaged 19ppg almost double amirs ppg output. This trade isnt made for us to tank it's legitimately an upgrade on our current team, all the while helping us financially and helping develop players, and thinking logically we could probably get the bulls 2014 1st round pick in this deal, so my bad .
What post tandem sounds like a playoff calibre tandem?
Boozer-Jonas
Amir-Jonas?
Seems obvious to me...
Kirk hinrich isn't better then demar but he does specific things that we need better passing, 3.-point shooting(shooting in general) team defence and leadership, all things we need.. Not to mention he doesn't shoot the extremely in efficient long 2s that demar does... Also this will give Terrence Ross 5-10 extra minutes a game which will ultimately help a lot in the grand scheme of things.
And for fields it amazes me you say to give him another year, when even if he does improve... He will not live up to his roughly 7million dollar contract, if you believe he will you're a fool, we also already have a crowded wing rotation already... And if we get the 2014 1st round pick of the bulls it'll still be a 25th overall pick roughly which could still help us out. Nazr Mohammed is also coming in to help incase of injury which is actually very important to us so don't say he's garbage.

No doubt, but there's a price that needs to be paid to get rid of his contract and this isn't it. Wait 12 more months and he'll have an expiring contract and his trade value rises significantly.
If the plan is to dump Fields and DD's contracts and throw in Amir's terrific contract as sweetner I just don't see the point of taking back Boozer, a player the Bulls have been unsuccessfully shopping for quite some time now.

I do not like the trade you propose Brettfinch. The only player from the lot I like is Amir. And my second would be DD, even though I have my doubts with Demar. A big pass on that one.

What would it take to get Masai interested in trading gay to the Bucks.
Gery Woelfel: Told by sources Bucks in the market for established small forward. They made a run at Caron Butler last month. Will they again? Twitter @GeryWoelfel

I'd assume we'd be after the young Greek prospect with the unpronounceable name, Udoh and Illysova. Illy is a four year deal but he can shoot and rebound well. I'd be intrigued by the rookie if we get him, but less good about the other players we get.

That Bucks could be very good if we sent them Gay. Mayo and Gay reunited, Sanders and Ilyasova a very talented frontcourt on the rise, would have potential to be a very poor man's grizz

They just traded for Butler apparently.
The Bucks will be fine - Knight, Ridnour, Mayo, Ilya, Henson, Sanders...They'll be battling for 8th hoping for one of their backcourt guys (Knight or Mayo) to blossom.

Very few of these trades seem to involve bubble teams that might actually be willing to give up a draft pick in the 15-20 range and additional considerations for a nice (tanking) package like Lowry/Amir/filler.
