Spo visiting the Vols

Post#1 » by HEATVols865 » Thu Aug 15, 2013 5:17 am

Spo is good friends with Butch Jones and he was in Knoxville today.

Butch actually attended the clinching championship games for the Heat the last two years...he's Spo's lucky charm lol

Erik Spoelstra attends Vols' practice

August 14, 2013, 8:35 PM ET
Associated Press

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra is pulling for Butch Jones and the Volunteers, so he dropped by Knoxville to talk with the team.

Spoelstra and Jones are friends and the Heat coach visited Tennessee's training camp Wednesday. Jones believes his Volunteers can take inspiration from the coach of the defending NBA champions.

"He's a great friend, and I'm really indebted," Jones said. "He doesn't have much time off. For him to come to Knoxville and spend an entire day with our football program means a lot."

Spoelstra arrived on campus in time to watch the final stages of Wednesday morning's practice, but did not speak with reporters. He spoke to the team Wednesday afternoon and also attended a second practice session that evening. Players left the morning practice wearing T-shirts with the message "Championship Wednesday" and logos of Tennessee and the Heat.

"My first reaction was he's taller than I thought he was," linebacker Dontavis Sapp said. "I guess when you're around 7-footers, you don't look as tall as you really are."...

This is how you make a thread. Thank you

Pretty funny one of the comments from the players about Spo's height. I guess I never really thought about it what is he like 6'2?

Can someone please bring up the pace threads from after he visited Oregon?

We played a couple of games faster and everyone credited the fast pace and great offense to the Oregon visit. Then of course we slowed down and the offense got much more efficient and those visits are never brought up again.

Before anyone brings it up, this is not an attack against Spo only against his fanboys, small sample sizes, hindsight bias, confirmation bias and creating narratives to fit your preconceived opinions.

Spo was taller than me so easily over 6 foot. He wasn't as skinny or scrawny as most people think from seeing him on TV either. He did play basketball in college, he just looks small standing next to NBA players.
Your emotions fuel the narratives that you create. You see what you want to see. You believe what you want to believe. You ascribe meaning when it is not there. You create significance when it is not present.

Russell Wilson seemed to be rather impressed with Spo in his visit. He had some good things to say about it to Olbermann.

Yeah, you shouldn't really be one to talk. People in glass houses and such.

Credit for Chip Kelly for the pace and space was originally given in the articles chronicling his visits. It wasn't some fabrication of "fanboys". Hell, what does any of that have to do with him visiting the Vols and Seaducks anyway? I mean, why did you really feel the need to take shots at ghosts?
