I liked the idea of Butler back when the Redick deal was going down and I am still ok with him on two conditions, one that we give up next to nothing to get him as in give them Ish Smith and save Udoh for another possible deal, and two he has to be ok with the fact that he is here to mentor Giannis and Middleton and if they show that they are ready Caron becomes a benchwarmer and not a guy in the last year of his contract trying to get minutes to earn his next one. I think that is possible since in this article he says he is willing to mentor Beasley.
http://hangtime.blogs.nba.com/2013/08/2 ... e-to-suns/“I would stay in his ear, I would definitely stay in his ear,” Butler said. “I would continue to motivate him and I would challenge him night-in and night-out, in practice, just whatever I can do to make him better I would do as a human being, and obviously as a basketball player because I think he has tremendous upside still.
He could also be a valuable piece in the Bucks front office or coaching staff in the future.
In July, he spent a week in Las Vegas during the NBA’s Summer League with a handful of veterans, including Andre Iguodala, participating an NBA Players Association leadership program. The intensive course ran eight hours a day and provided players who might have front-office aspirations with a comprehensive look inside the business, from the fine print of the collective bargaining agreement to formulating scouting reports on teams and players.
Also another tidbit from brewhoop that is interesting.
Delfino is still rehabbing from surgery he had a for a broken bone in his right foot that may require him to miss all of the preseason and possibly a bit of the regular season.
