Would you trade Jerebko for Beasley?
There's talk the Suns might waive him and I think he could be an upgrade in talent for our backup small forward spot. If Smith only plays half his minutes there, that could leave about 30 minutes left over for Beasley. So basically when we go "small" and rest Monroe, our frontline would become Drummond/Smith/Beasley instead of Datome or Singler in that spot. I don't know about you, but that sounds a lot better to me. I know Beasley has some issues, but he's still a bigger scoring threat than Singler, and Datome is an unproven rookie.
The reason I suggest trading Jerebko for him and not just picking him up for the minimum if he's waived, is because we have no roster spot, and Jerebko figures to have no role on this team anymore. Their contracts are about the same (JJ, 4.5 mil/2 years; Beasley 6 mil/2 years). So I think if we can fill a bigger need with Beasley and it only costs an extra 1.5 million more per year than we would've paid Jerebko anyways, that's a good deal in my opinion. I would think the Suns would like this deal too as they wouldn't have to buy him out, and they get a solid young player with high character in return on a cheaper deal. For the Pistons, Joe said he's not afraid of players with an edge, and if I'm not mistaken didn't he try to sign Beasley as a free agent last summer but Phoenix outbid him? So this sounds like it could be a situation worth watching. I don't know if it would be a trade involving Jerebko, but I wouldn't be surprised if Joe tries to get involved in getting Beasley somehow if he becomes available, either in trade or waived. I would do it.

Re: Would you trade Jerebko for Beasley?
While the talent is tempting, I have to give a resounding "NO" on this one.
There's a reason three teams have bailed on him, considering the Suns want out from under his contract after just one season. He's a total and complete moron. Some things you can't teach, and common sense is one of them.
Keep Beasley off this team, and let dumb team's, like the Bobcats or Kings pick him up.

No,I understand the talent aspect of it but jonas gives a 100% all of the time and dosent have problems with his role or in the locker room.

You do know that hes still under investigation for raping a 15yr old? That he is facing jail time currently?
The only reason to trade for him is to release him and get the 3 mil in cap savings by paying him over 5 yrs.

No. Beasley is a bad influence. He sucks at the one skill he is known for, scoring. Last year he averaged LESS ppg than shot attempts per game. That's awful. He's had enough chances imo.

I do not ever want to see Beasley in a Pistons uniform. His alleged talent is easily offset by his assholyness.

I know his issues. I'd take the gamble though.

NO
Not only is he a fool, but he doesn't even score efficiently, his main craft. He's like a dumber, drugged up Cousins.
I would rather have a bag of $10 million showing up every game on the bench than see Beasley on it.

Re: Would you trade Jerebko for Beasley?
I think it's pretty clear that talent only takes you so far in this league.
Beasley has all the talent in the world, but he has done nothing since coming into the league and i doubt that'll change here. His attitude/commitment is just not at the level it needs to be to be a productive player.
We already have CV to be the high talent, underachiever on this team.
Jonas has always been a hard worker and even though he has dropped off in recent years, i believe that has more to do with the position he was made to play than him as a player. If he's given minutes at SF rather than being used strictly as a stretch 4 (like last season) he'll bounce back.

Re: Would you trade Jerebko for Beasley?
While he may have all the talent available to be a competent player, he's sorely lacking the competency as a human being. I'd rather have the whole package rather than a part of the sum.

At this point betting on Beasley turning it around would be like betting on the Washington Generals.

Re: Would you trade Jerebko for Beasley?
No. Beasley needs to be out of the league for awhile as a rude awakening. He came in with tremendous acclaim as an explosive scorer and bruising rebounder. Instead of delivering on the floor he proceeded to get into trouble from rookie orientation until now.
Without going into all of his transgressions, I'm really concerned that he has not responded to any of the interventions he's had so far. Pat Riley couldn't get through to him. John Lucas worked with him to no avail. He worked with Norm Nixon to rebuild and rewire his thinking. Still in all those cases we still have a guy who makes epically bad decisions.
To compound that his showing last year, 10 pts. a game off of 10 shots a game suggests an erosion of efficiency. I fully expect the NBA GMs to bar him from opportunities for awhile. Sitting on the outside trying to make his way back in is probably the humble pill Beas needs to get back on track.
So no, no way, absolutely not on the idea of Beasley in Detroit.

Him and sheed will be hitten that bong before every game. Im all for letting you do what ya want, but they might get our whole team outta rhythm with the second hand inhalation hazards.

So the D trade a really good character individual who plays well as a PF Tweener type for a Low morale person who might be a cancer in the lockerroom. I say a astounding NO. D can do better.

Anyone who says no underestimates the leaders the pistons have right now.
Beasley on the Pistons would be a non issue and would make this team top 5 in the east minimum.

I agree with you. There's a chance we could get Beasley for nothing now too, as Suns expected to waive him before camp, or could even happen within days.

This is even better. Now we won't have to take on his contract. We can just dump Jerebko for a future pick to clear a spot, then sign Beasley on a low risk minimum deal. Clear cap space by dumping Jerebkos contract and upgrade talent at the same time? That's a win-win to me.
Does anyone know if we can sign Beasley to a guaranteed contract first though, carry 16 players into training camp, and then work out dumping someone else later to get down to 15? Or do any additional players after 15 have to be non-guaranteed deals?

Re: Would you trade Jerebko for Beasley?
Beyond his maturity issues, Beasley also sucks. He wouldn't bring much to the team other than inefficient scoring.
