trade idea with Utah

Post#1 » by coolness » Mon Sep 2, 2013 1:06 pm

Why? we might find out that our best bet is NEXT season. and free agency looks good if I remember right.

Why for Utah? They are about to put out a non-playoff team again and I don't think they like that.

When? after December 15. This trade idea is contingent on at least a few things before then

B.Jennings
W.Bynum
J.Jerebko
J.Smith

for

T.Burke
R.Jefferson (exp)
M.Williams (exp)
R.Gobert

So, depending on Jennings and Smith, Utah becomes a very nice team.
And we get some nice depth before re-signing Monroe and signing a free-agent star at sf or pg. Hopefully Durant, but maybe not Durant. hehe.

Also....Jorts, T.Mitchell and 2nd of 2014 for G.Dieng. Then Drummond has 2 back-ups while Monroe is the pf of the future. A stretch 4 could become Monroe's back-up. SIngler is an obvious choice there. KCP and Luigi are also stretching the floor. Maybe we could nab Daye next off-season to be a 3rd stringer at both forward spots. The team could become real powerful without having the concerns that Jennings and Smoove bring.

All this without seeing even a single pre-season game.... :/

Terrible for us. Why would we trade Smith and Jennings for Burke and Gobert? It makes less than zero sense.

Idunno.... I could see it doing both teams some good. Elite teams seem to have depth at pg and center. I hope we do when/if we become elite. It might only be in a couple years...

No way man. I like j smith too much at 13 mill per year just to move him out the same year.

14 mill and getting older, but yea he could turn out great. having him guard 3's and 4's will be exciting. I hope the offense comes around somehow because this team looks plain awkward on offense. B.Jennings is our hope for putting it together and that is scary.

Getting older?

Good thing his contract is in line with the prime of his career.

27, 28, 29 have always been considered great years for big men. Joe got a helluva deal bro at exactly 13.5 mill per year.

I dont know how much quality SF time this man can give, but it will be interesting to see if the big lineups can work.

Christ, now we're moving on to trading for Trey Burke?

While I don't believe Jennings is the savior at the PG position right now, there's zero doubt in my mind that he's better than Burke across the board.

How is taking a massive step back good for Monroe and Drummond? This trade is just bad all over the place.

Does anyone realize the criticism Joe D. would take for trading for Trey Burke after passing on him in the draft?

Also, Joe has already stated many times that the Pistons had zero interest in Burke. Even if it was a good trade(which IMO it isn't) it would never happen.

If our team ends up like last year's Miami Marlins then why not. If we suck too much might as well suck to the maximum to have a chance at Wiggins.

Of course if we're anywhere near .500 I wouldn't do the trade. The trade would be more contingent on us being quite bad but not worse than the Celtics/76ers.

I could also see the Jazz rejecting the trade because they are giving up good expirings and their future starting PG for Jennings and Smith, two players who don't exactly have top notch value around the league as more and more teams rely on mathematics, and those mathematics aren't kind to either player.

This would be a pretty good trade...

If we wanted to undue everything we've done this summer and go back to being a lottery team, that is.

I'm pretty sure that's the OP's point. Coolness has been pretty vocal about hating everything we did this offseason, and this would effectively give us the mulligan he wants. He had to know this trade would get zero support when he posted it (and by the way, we've been out of the playoffs for a year longer than the Jazz, so wouldn't their rationale of not liking to put out another non-playoff team apply even more so to us?).

Lol, Burke is still relevant on this board? KCP will be the better overall player, mark my words. And Jennings is leagues better offensively and to an extent defensively than Burke, period.

To be honest, I just stopped reading after Utah and Burke.

Thanks for seeing my p.o.v.

Officially, if we had one more shot-blocking center, one more 3 pt shooter at the 2, 3 or 4, and traded out Jennings and Bynum for one mediocre pg on a modest contract and bought out Villanueva and maybe found a way to unload Jerebko, then I would be ecstatic with the team chemistry and, of course, the overall talent, because we have mad talent.

But, I don't mind criticisms. I like reading people's ideas, but I don't agree with most. I posted a Toronto trade too and I'm pretty sure that one is wrong, so blah, blah, blah.

Sometimes i feel like people come up with the worst possible trade idea, just for attention.

Also, you can still follow Trey Burke even though hes not a Piston.
