I think pierce falls off now that he is out of boston. i know i am in the minority here, but its like his longjevity was tied to boston. its like that old guy at work who is really healthy then he is forced to retire and is dead within 6. months.

Well, my worry was that his role is gonna be reduced and he's not as much of a spot-up guy as Johnson. Remember now, Pierce's one point of pride left in his career is that he wants to outlast the rest of his generation, so I could see him putting together a decent 13/4/3 season with low turnovers, some 3s and good percentages.

Yeah, I'm still trying to get everybody's humor in here sadly. lol. I'll figure you all out soon, but in the meantime I'm probably reacting much like this:

I actually am very surprised how Amir Johnson fell so much, the guy is still young and had a pretty good season last year.

I was surprised Kevin Martin was selected over Jeremy Lamb. Lamb is getting OKC's super sub minutes next year.

I was hoping Amir fell to me but Sabonis took him. Jeremy Lamb is a nice consolation prize.

If you can take 4 Jazz players that early....let me reach on a Wolf.

Kevin Martin is playing with an excellent passer, under a coach who he has played his best ball under. As long as his shot doesn't completely fall apart (which happens in MN all the time (Mike Miller, Randy Foye, the list goes on) I think Kevin Martin will be a top 50-60 player this year even if that arm swing through rule totally messed up his number of FT attempts per game.

I love Amir. He's a big man who doesn't hurt you anywhere that always goes late because of how unexciting he is. He's a great big to pair with Guard Heavy stats.

I would like to form a new keeper league made of active RealGM fantasy basketball participants.

The league will kick off sometime in August/September with the first keeper draft.

I'm thinking right now of a league of approximately 12 players, but I'm open to more if more are interested.

It will be standard rules, except the rosters will be a little smaller. I want this league to revolve more around top tier talent, and have it be less concerned with bench and role players. We have plenty of "deep" style leagues on the forum already, so let's try something different.

Here are my thoughts on league rules:

Lineups: PG, SG, G, PF, SF, F, C, Bench, Bench

Stats: FG%, FT%, 3s, Pts, Rebs, Assts, Stls, Blks, TOs

Waiver Wire: Auction style. In other words, since potentially really good players could be available on the wire, we'll need a better way to police this than just first to the wire. So, each player will have a set amount of cash to spend on waiver wire pick-ups. Once you're out, you're out.

Each year, each manager will be able to keep 5 players (basically, a starting five). And the rest of the players will go back into the draft pool. There will be two drafts annually:

1) Lottery based draft for rookies
2) Auction-style draft for all remaining players

I am, of course, open to suggestions.

Sign up below if you're interested.

Intriguing idea, isn't it?

I would add 2 more bench spots imo and probably 1 more C next year

That might be a bit excessive, but I do agree. If this is about " top tier talent" the roster limitations could change to cater to position scarcity. My belief is that it still may be too easy to build a super team if all you have the right strategy in such a shallow league ( that lets you keep five players each year)

I'd suggest an extra g, f, c, and no bench spots. I know how much some love to set lineups daily, so I already know that no bench would be a problem.

Actually, I think no bench might be interesting, but it might also lead to very low actual involvement in the league. Sometimes setting lineups is one of those necessary evils to get people to stay involved...

In other news, why on earth was David West still available? Solid all around player. Of course, I'm not complaining...

I like this set up. But wouldn't be against adding one UTIL spot and one bench.

We're definitely not adding anything. I would have drafted much differently if the roster setup was different.

I considered West but I felt I didn't really need his stats.

Curtis picked a little over 7 hours ago, which means there's less than an hour left for Brakedown.

I think the suggestions were for next year.

YARG!

Sorry about that everyone. I checked the time stamp and saw 11 AM, so I thought I had much more time. Didn't realize that last post as a late pick as well.

My finished roster:

PG - Kyrie Irving

G - Damian Lillard
SF -Tobias Harris
PF - Kevin Garnett
F - Amare Stoudemire
C - Greg Monroe
Bench - Danilo Galinari
Bench - Andrew Bynum

I haven't looked at the numbers, but I'd say it's a fairly balanced team, with huge question marks in the short-term. The sure things are your guard stats. I think Irving takes another leap this year, if he stays healthy, and Lillard should improve exponentially. I also think Oladipo will be good enough this year to make your team more than competitive in guard stats.

The proverbial question marks are all concentrated on your big men. Besides Harris, there isn't one player among your Forwards or Cs that has a firm outlook for how well they'll do. Garnett on a new team? Amare actually healthy? Bynum is apparently still not in game shape, and might not be until January. Gallo is out too. Monroe has a crowded front court and is moving to PF. I'd like to say that these question marks may be resolved in the long term, and for some I believe they will. Gallinari where you drafted him is a steal in a keeper league like this. Monroe will be solid for years to come, but KG, AMare, and Bynum are more questionable. Of course, I'm guessing they're not keepers any way for you, but I wonder if they're going to give you enough of a boost this year to win it all. Best case scenario, you dominate both guard and big man stats to win it all. Worst case: Amare, Bynum, and Gallo don't do anything significant until January, by which time you'll be out of the playoff picture. My opinion is that you'll fall somewhere in between best/worst case scenarios.

The good news, though, is you've drafted keepers that should make you formidable for years to come.
