It’s been an Arlington institution for nearly 90 years. But is it time to change the name of Washington-Lee High School?
John Schachter thinks so, although it likely will be an uphill, perhaps quixotic, battle to remove the Civil War general’s name.

Schachter, who can see the high school from his 21st-story condominium unit nearby, used the citizen-comment period of the Aug. 8 School Board meeting to say Lee’s name (though not Washington’s) should be removed from the school.

Typical gentrifier/transplant/yup sense of entitlement.
Condo dwelling transplant yup wants Washington-Lee high school's name changed.
A school that has existed for decades before he arrived here.

Oh how I wish I was at the school board meeting on that night.
These people are straight up comedy.

The irony of this video being celebrated by WTA is that dipshits like this will only speed up the gentrification of DC. But don't let stupid stop you from being you WTA.

Like, Like, Like, Like, Like, Like, Yah!
Go ahead and build more condos, build more Starbucks, Whole Foods & CVS stores.
Put one on every block.
Hell, put a couple of them on every block.
Raise store rents even higher than they are right now.
Did you hear? Whole Foods is selling record albums now.
Maybe CVS can start renting out videotapes again just like Peoples Drug used to back in the days.

Urban. Urban. Urban. Urban. Urban.
LIKE, LIKE, LIKE, LIKE, LIKE, LIKE, YAH!!!!! :D

In WTA's case, he doesn't talk hoops, offer insights, or even present a worldview that's remotely interesting to me. So I put him on ignore. Life's too short.

That's a good attitude and a good idea. Who has the time? Your suggestion made me finally go and figure out how to put people on ignore.

stevemcqueen1 and I disagree on a lot of basketball stuff. But we're of one mind on this.

The ironic thing about hipsters is their entire gimmick, from the clothes, the music and the lifestyle, it is a ripoff of the past. Nothing original about them.

What's funny is WTA makes noises about retiring to Florida once his folks die and he can cash in on their houses. But you got to expect there's some dude in Florida bitching about all these snowbirds and gentrifiers moving South who have no idea what it's like to live in the REAL Florida. I betcha one of 'em steals his car, or at least pees in his margarita.

It does happen from time to time. Yesterday I found myself agreeing with one of your other posts, the one in the prediction thread. I was surprised, and for once, had nothing to say.

Big difference in my case.
I have already been down to the Gulf of Mexico for extended stays twice. Both times out of my own pocket.
When I travel there again later this year, I will pay out of my own pocket.
When I ultimately relocate there (hopefully sooner rather than later) I will be paying for everything.

Now as far as any future inheritance, when the time comes would you like for me to just donate it to charity?

Another time I found myself in surprise agreement was with Nivek in the draft thread. I seem to remember the YODA rankings he came up with ended up being very close to the rankings I settled on except for a few players. My method of analysis is totally different from his--pretty much based on my impressions from viewing, not a lot of consideration of numbers unless there is something that's a notable outlier.

Yet we ended up in similar places on a lot of players. I'm curious to see if this happens again next year.

We could have definitely used this kid this past Monday night.
Oh well. We are 0-1. Next up. The Packers.
