Official Eurobasket 2013 Thread
Eurobasket 2013 games are currently being played. Eurobasket is the European basketball championship for national squads. There are a few NBA players in these squads. Let's discuss these games, as well as the performances of the NBA players.
So far, the performance of the NBA players has been pretty poor.
Results so far:
GB 75
Israel 71
Pretty big upset by Great Britain. NBA player Omri Casspi scored 13 points on a poor 3/14 shooting.
Latvia 86
Bosnia 75
Teletovic had 18 points on 6/17 shooting. Also a big upset by Latvia. Bosnia was heavily favoured.
Georgia 84
Poland 67
Georgia had one of the biggest NBA busts in their squad - Nikoloz Tskitishvili, who went 1/3 from the field and had 3 points. Pachulia was not playing for Georgia.
Poland had Marcin Gortat with 12 points on 6/13 shooting, as well as former NBA journeyman/scrub Maciej Lampe with 10 points on 5/10 shooting.
Finland 61
Turkey 55
Another huge upset, Turkey was heavily favoured to win this game. The following NBA players/ex nba players were playing for Turkey:
Turkoglu - 2/12 shooting - 8 points, heavily responsible for the lost
Omer Asik 2/2 - 4 points
Ersan Ilyasova 1/9 shooting - 3 points
Semih Erden (former NBA scrub) 3/3 - 8 points
Turkoglu and Ilyasova shot way too poorly, and cost Turkey the win over a squad of mostly anonymous Finnish players.
Currently playing (at the moment of this post)
Belgium - Ukraine
Kravstov is playing for Ukraine
Macedonia - Montenegro
Pero Antic (Atlanta Hawks) is playing for Macedonia, while Pekovic for some reason is not playing for Montenegro
Spain - Croatia
Lots of star power for Spain: Gasol bros, Rubio, Calderon, Rudy Fernandez
Former NBA scrub Roko Ukic is playing for Croatia
Sweden - Greece

nice that the nba spanish players are playing. i don't see how the could lose and game.
i hope the semis and the final will come up on an common sport torrent site. 3 games should be enough until the preseason will start.

I'm from Germany so I'm rooting for the German team, but it could get really ugly tonight against France.
The French team could beat them.

Tyrese Rice vs Bo Mcaleb was fun.
GB vs Israel was terrible basketball, but GB were huge underdogs. Casspi was terrible. Dude can't make a foul shot.

Damn, what a awful basketball. I have absolutely no idea how can anyone praise or prefer european bb over NBA, it's just disgusting.

Yeah, Maciek was a scrub in his NBA times, but he was young at time and had no work ethic. Currently he is much better offensive player than Gortat, but on defensive end he's still half decent at most. They will both suck in this tournament though, because Poland has absolutely hopeless PGs which are not capable of feeding them in the box and our HC is ****.

First win vs France in 12 years
Really nice shooting, but I don't think it'll happen every game. In a few years though, Germany could be for real...

Nah, they'll probably get trashed by Belgium and GB now and nobody can explain why.
