Xavier to LAL. Now they have two disappointing lotto SFs from that draft, with Wesley Johnson being the other. Decent chance they can get one to pan out.

@ESPNSteinLine 7m Hearing: Knicks summer league standout PG Toure Murry has accepted New York's invite to training camp after strong late push from Miami
Two-time champs chased Murry for Heat camp but word is D-League standout ultimately wanted to try to build on summer success with Knicks
We really want that 3rd PG I guess.

Yeah! Big ups to Rudys_Better for and-1'ing this post of mine today from the day before Oden signed:
Forgot I called this one. Had a feeling they'd go hyper-low radar for Greg.
Been actually wondering if we'd have a [press conference] for Greg. Wouldn't be surprised if they'd skip it, in part to avoid heightened expectations. - See more at: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=1257383&p=36751296#p36751296

Q: What the go with Greg Oden? Any word on the big man's promise? -- Craig.
A: For the most part, expect it to be mostly a no-go when it comes to information on the progress of Oden. The Heat seemingly are going out of their way to minimize expectations, yet to formally introduce a player they signed over a month ago. While there have been many sightings of Oden working out at AmericanAirlines Arena, this will not be a situation with daily or even regular updates.
To a degree, this will be like the Heat's efforts with Eddy Curry two seasons ago: When he is ready to be put on display, if he is ready, he will be put on display. Otherwise, Greg likely will remain as much a mystery under contract as he was during his three seasons away from the game.
The Heat were not necessarily pleased about the media conference Oden held in Indianapolis a month ago declaring he was finished rehabbing and cleared to play. Now that he is under the umbrella of the Heat's cone of secrecy, expect few such proclamations going forward. But, yes, we're asking and will continue to ask.

Thunder just cut Deandre Liggins. I think he'd be a nice pickup to round out the roster, and you still have 1 spot available for a mid season acquisition if Varnado is waived, and i'd bet he will.
If you want to try to measure the elements of basketball that are supposedly unmeasurable, spend a game just watching Marc Gasol.

I'm not big on him. Can't really shoot and isn't a great defender(although he's good). Plus with the arrest, doesn't seem like he's worth it. He's a fringe NBA player even without off the court concerns.

I've never wanted to punch someone in the face so badly. Really hoping to run into him at a game one day. I won't hesitate.

The best thing for Oden is for the HEAT to keep the media away. The same person that told me about Oden signing said that Oden is confident he will get back but doesn't want the expectations just yet. The HEAT need to build up Oden mentally just as much as they need to physically.

From Ira :
Hamilton and Vander Blue might have a chance..
In addition to 2012 second-round acquisition Justin Hamilton, the outside-shooting center out of LSU, confirming Monday he has signed, the Heat also are working out a series of prospects this week.
The Sun Sentinel confirmed Monday through league sources that among those who will work out in coming days for the Heat are free-agent guard Julyan Stone, who played last season for the Denver Nuggets; Vander Blue, a guard out of Marquette who went undrafted this past June; swingman Yakhouba Diawara, a journeyman forward out of France who spent the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons with the Heat; and point guard Larry Drew II, who went undrafted out of UCLA and was sidelined by injury after being scheduled to play for the Heat in summer league.
Hamilton and Vander Blue might have a chance..

Vander might have a chance because he's a good athletic player. Still a little salty on what he did to the Canes.

People say crap like this all the time and is patently ridiculous.
No they need to build him up physically and have him able to maintain it (stay healthy) way more than they need to build him up physically.
In fact the reason they don't want expectations is because he is probably further than we think he is. I think someone mentioned that they did the same with Curry.
Your emotions fuel the narratives that you create. You see what you want to see. You believe what you want to believe. You ascribe meaning when it is not there. You create significance when it is not present.

The Heat just likes manipulating history. Past draft picks and all the benefits from them via past transactions are ALL ON THIS TEAM!!!!! DISCOUNTED!!!!!! Stay off the chronic and you will have a part of this team Mr. Beasley.

Since it's a new start, I don't expect him to wear 0 or 8. So i'm expecting something new.

Source says he'll wear #7. Or a different 1 or 2 digit number not worn by a current Heat player, save for numbers 10 or 33.

told you it would be the best signing since the big 3. You have to understand Riley and Spo by now. We don't say no to talent.
