Scola classified Argentina to World Cup

Post#1 » by fabio » Sun Sep 8, 2013 8:48 pm

With an outstanding performance by Scola (28-7-2, 1 block, 2-5 3 points), Argentina defeated Canada and clinched a spot for 2014 Basketball World Cup. Scola is the only NBA player for Argentina and his help was providential for a really weak Argentinian B-team.

Scola leads the competition in points, 2nd in PPG, 8th in rebounds, 9th in assists, 2nd in FT made

Some good news for Indiana fans: Scola started using a new skill set he never used before: the 3 point shoot. He's absolutely dedicated to develop this skill and so far he's having games with 40-50% 3pt shooting percentage (and some games with low percentages as well), which means he'll probably play not only in the post, but also in the 3 point range

Good for Luis and Argentina. However, he shouldn't play around he perimeter, at all for us. We need him to play out of the post off the bench to continue the offensive flow for us. We got Copeland to play on the perimeter. We got Scola to play in the post.

I saw today's game against Canada. He (basketball should never be compared to that vile illegal act- Scoot McGroot) Joel Anthony, Tristan Thompson and Andrew Nichols.
Also shooting 3s, but FIBA line is closer to the basket..
He's a really offensive threat with many skills.. pick and roll, pick and pop, post game..

Will have a great year for the Pacers..

I wouldn't mind him trying to expand his range. That could become handy. I believe the Pacers need a stretch 5 and if Scola can do that then the Pacers can just sign anybody that is cheap to take on Pendergraph's role as the 5th big.

I think Scola will do a great job of taking what the defense gives him, whether it's a jumper or his post play or his court vision. We don't need him to take it outside of 20 feet ever, but I won't complain if he has that capability. We just already have other players who can do that.

I agree he shouldn't be playing around the 3 but if he's wide open I don't see why he couldn't try it. That could be a big addition if he could hit those when he's open.
