The foul wasn't called on him, though. It was called on Skjellbom.

i really enjoy listening to you euros talk about this tournament.

what are the current rules in fiba for a player to be allowed to play for another country? i know in fifa you at least have to have been born in the country or have a parent with citizenship of that country. the usa soccer team has been trying to find guys from europe and mexico with dual citizenship recently. we have brought in a lot of german-american players to the team. most are guys who had a german mom and a us military dad (stationed in germany) and have spent their entire lives in germany, but now play for usa.

From the FIBA rule book:
A national team participating in a Competition of FIBA may have only one player on its team who has acquired the legal nationality of that country by naturalisation or by any other means after having reached the age of sixteen (16).

That applies for the McCalleb's.

However, the Swedes have more than one players of American-descent because:
Any player with two legal nationalities or more, by birth or by naturalisation, may choose at any age the national team for which he wishes to play.

That's why they have Taylor, Rush and the Mussambas.

Would be awesome if Biyombo could play in international games, well, let me rephrase that; ANY kind of games in the off season. I know he participated in one Pro-am, but I guess he's pretty dialed in on that crossfit routine.

I guess the only international ties he has is with Spain and I don't see them being interested in Biz. So that only leaves the possibility of playing for the DR of Congo. Christian Eyenga would probably be the number one option but, despite the bad level of the team and the average opposition, I think that a summer of trying to drag his team to the finals of AfroBasket (yep, they actually do call it like that) would do Biz some good. Getting the ball more and trying to score would be a worthy experience.

Proof that he can't carry a team on his back. He's the only NBA caliber player on the roster (Jerebko really isn't NBA caliber) and any time you're surrounded by subpar talent like he is, your efficiency tends to drop (see: every one of our players in the last two years)

Hopefully we never need our 2nd round pick from a year ago to carry our team on his back.

That's some tough criticism for a sophomore second round pick who's still averaging 20 points during the tournament. A whole lot of NBA players wouldn't be able to carry that team. You have to realize how bad that Sweden team is and what organized and smart teams (besides Russia) they are facing. Every time they step on the floor the Swedes have three players who are clearly worse than their match-up.

I honestly think that if they replaced JT with any of the league's borderline all-stars, they probably would get out of the group but would fall short at the second group stage or the quarter-finals. Like let's say they had LaMarcus Aldridge. There's only so much one player can do. At one point some Slavic team would throw four different beefy bigs throughout the game at him, play a whole lot of zone to confuse the rest of the team to the point they couldn't get him the ball.

Teams win European basketball, it's a whole different game when compared to the NBA.

I know, I'm impressed with him, but the turnovers show that he's not one to lead a team, but rather one who can still be impressive. He won't have the ball in his hands anywhere as much in the NBA, but on a good day, I think JT can score 20 and play good D.

taylor off to another hot start today. 17pts on 6-of-10 at halftime vs italy. sweden is up 48-43.

looks like italy might be resting some starters today. they are 4-0 and seem to be comfortably through to the next round.

taylor finished with 28pts, 7reb in a 3pt loss.

i believe his tournament is finished. however, that probably put him in the lead for scoring.

That's the Teletovic that Brooklyn wanted. Instead here's the Teletovic they got:

Kind of like our version of Doug Christie. I mean that as a compliment even though I hated Doug Christie.

JT's 16 points against Greece and an altercation with Vassilis Spanoulis:

Jeez, JT, pick on someone your own age! Spanoulis looks like he's molting.

Seriously, if JT's ever unhappy here, he should go play in Europe, I could see him being a star there.

The one consistency through all his play this summer has been his outstanding shooting. Shot looks great and its going in.

As someone who wanted this team to draft Klay Thomspon and Reggie Bullock, I am so heartened by the development of Taylor. I don't need him to carry the team, I'm psyched to have a very important piece, a 3&D guy.
