Fantastic article by TAI, ranking the NBA's top point guards in terms of defense:

Yeah I heard it's twice as big/expensive as RG3's home.

That max money though...
Eric Maynor is the worst basketball player I've ever seen.

Good read.

Definitely. I like the conclusion that he's both very good and has many areas where he can improve. Good!

Yeah yeah yeah nice but of course the first thing I look at is that the lines on the ball court are the wrong configuration, wrong distance.

Also OMG Death By Beige!!! Needs a little color.

And the swimming pool is too far from the house, swimming is how Tim Duncan remains eternally youthful, you need easy access.

And any grapes they eat there are really really sour I bet. Seriously beautiful place. Peaceful place to come home to.

And for the mere price of 1,250,000 you can own the vacant lot directly behind John's home.

Click on the second pic and you'll see a view of John's home from the vacant lot.

Yeah, good article.

I thought his description of John was spot on.

John stands out stylistically from the other PGs on that list. He doesn't play defense like a PG. All of the roving and helping and drifting away from the perimeter towards the paint is defense like a forward. The net result is that the team defense will be good over the long term when you're getting that much help, but individually, he's going to give up a lot of points to opposing PGs and there will be games where you'll get torched and lose unless he adjusts.

One thing the article didn't mention that is very important is that John is an absolutely amazing transition defender. You will not see another PG successfully defend as many 2 and 3 on 1s as John. He's fearless and super aggressive here, doesn't seem to acknowledge the disadvantage, and it's an area where he turns negatives into positives.

Also, the article only mentioned it in passing, but John is the best chase down shot blocker among starting PGs. It's another way he's brilliant in transition. Actually, the only guard out there better at it than him that I can think of is D Wade.

John also has a knack for getting strip steals on the perimeter. You don't see it as much now as when he was a rookie, when he was getting them all the time. He doesn't gamble like he used to and focuses on helping out far more than he did then. But the ability is there and it's particularly dangerous for him because it compliments his speed and finishing ability in transition so well.

And John is also a very good defensive rebounder for a PG. Good instincts on the glass and super athleticism. This is also big because it lets him get fast breaks started faster.

John reminds me of LeBron in a lot of ways and he plays defense like LeBron did early in his career before he got really really good at D. Has a lot of the same issues LeBron did. Has a lot of the same spectacular strengths translated into a smaller body and smaller position. The results were good last year and the results for LeBron were fairly good early in his career. But like with John, you could see the innate potential to be a hellacious defender and eventually LeBron realized it. I hope John does too.

Wow, I never thought of it that way, but you are right. Wall is quite a bit like a young Lebron. He's a freak athlete, a well rounded player who can rebound and pass, and he's got an unreliable jump shot that isn't necessarily broken, it just needs work. He also has the drive to work on his game and improve, and he wants to make his teammates better.

Hopefully, he'll have a career much like Lebron where he won't really peak until his 6th season, and then maintain that peak for a good 5 or 6 years. Of course, the one thing Wall lacks is Lebron's incredible strength and durability. In all likelihood, his peak years won't last as long.

Oh brother... what a way to set the bar right up there in fantasy-land.

I think he's more like a cross between LeBron, Wilt, and Spiderman. Really. He has a lot in common w/ all those guys.

John hit 3/6 three pointers in the Kentucky alumni game. Hopefully a positive sign.

White it may have been a no d exhibition but we're still in a different world from
where we were a year ago. Just that he's A) healthy and B) hitting Js
is enough to put a smile on my face. He could well be a top 5-10 player
in the league this year.

Clearly he is gaining confidence and efficiency in his jumper. That takes him to another level.
From there, a post game would be a nice touch.

From there, doing it consistently over the next 10-12 years.

If that's who Wall is going to be, the Wizards will have a chance to be good for that long because there will always be other good players who want to join a passing PG that has a rounded game.

When you add Beal to the equation... I think they are sitting pretty for attracting players and they have a long window to build a winner.

only got that one uncontested 3pt shot in that game to look at.

but his jumper just looks good now. its not pretty like a ray allen jumper or even a brad beal. but it looks fixed, patched up if you will.

balance, follow through and confidence. its hard to fault now, whereas going back 18-24 months i could list you 6 or 7 things he was doing wrong.

even minus Okafor for the time being, i think we will be pretty good just with our back court/wings. Nene being healthy is gravy, delicious delicious gravy.
