WT: Deng to become free agent

Fall back for when we miss on Melo (LeBron if he opts out as well)? Pretty good glue guy, though he's not very efficient. Could use his defense though.

Deng will get more than 10 per, unless he has a terrible year. I'd be shocked if he didn't get 10 per as well. There will be a pretty big market for him given his skillset. The better question is, do you pay him 10 per if you are paying Kobe and Gasol 10 per or anything more than that?

He's very injury prone though. If we could snag him for somewhere in between 6-9million then I'd give it a go but anything over 10mill is to much for a guy who's in an out of the lineup alot. I do agree he definitely could help especially on the defensive end

If I was Mitch I wouldn't sign him, especially for anything over $10M which he is surely to demand in FA.

I would love to have him for like 3 years, 30-35m. I think he'd be a perfect fit on this team and especially going forward. Need guys like him to build your team around.

Wow just looking at his stats last season, he wasn't good. 38 mins per game with 15.1 PER and 42.6 FG% and 32.2 3P%. Season before that was even worse (his PO numbers in the past two seasons aren't impressive ether). No thanks if he is asking for 10+ per year, not to mention he's on the wrong side of the 20's. I say pass on him and just preserve the cap space for the year after.

Bulls will not let him walk. They will sign him, he is part of there main roster. No team can afford to let a 16 point a game player just walk.

Deng will get 8m-10m per yr. I always thought he was the the likeliest guy the Lakers will get next summer. Lebron is a pipe dream Melo is possible but I think he has a 60 to 70 percent chance of staying in NY and George is restricted. Im not a big fan of Rudy Gay either.

i wouldn't want the lakers to lock themselves into a long term deal for a player entering his 30's and who is at best the 4th best player on a title contending team.

Deng at 9-10 mill is fair value, but it doesn't fit your direction at all right now. It all but assures you eat up your cap, miss out on the 2015 class, and can't reach contention soon. Potentially it costs you a 2015 lotto pick too.

I think he could be a 3rd best player... but they'd need a 4th best player that factors in many a games.

Injury prone does that to your stats. But when he's healthy he's a much better offensive player. Don't forget though that he's one of the best perimeter defenders in the NBA. Maybe not DPOY good, but Ariza good back when Ariza was on the Lakers.....with an offense. I dont know if thats worth 10 mil but its good. To me in the new CBA (and I'm not talking about the price the market sets) his true value is about 8mil.
