In order to advance, we need to win Croatia and a win of Italy vs Spain, a highly unlikely combination.

Props to Slovenia, they outhustled and outrun us for 3 quarters.

Don't you think you already had enough miracle victories in 2007 and 2009 against Slovenia?

Wut? Group F plays their games a day later than group E, which means they will definitely know the final standings in group E. So if you're into conspiracy theories, you can definitely expect shenanigans.

With that said, I think Serbia, France and Lithuania have shown to be about equal, all pretty dangerous but beatable, so it doesn't make much sense to pick one over the others. Although of course the coaches have much more informed opinion on how they match up vs certain teams, so who knows...

I think the fact that 1st and 3rd place teams will have 2 days off before quarterfinals, but no day off before semifinals, may be more important in deciding whether to tank or not to tank.

My bad... you're right, Group E plays tomorrow while Group F will play on monday so Italy and Spain will know the final standing in the opposite group...

Maybe Serbia is the weaker team among the three... they're also very young, without much experience... but of course they could prove me wrong.

Lithuania is the better team in front-court while France has still a couple of unstoppable players in Batum and (especially) Tony Parker...

Well Latvians played their worst game of the tournament and lost to Belgium. Relied too much on 3pt shots which couldn't hit (5/29) and were not agressive enough... So good bye 1/4finals. Hopfully now Ukraine will win Lithuania - at least than this loss won't feel so bad.. .:D

Big choke job by Latvia losing to Belgium. And they will fail to advance to the QT.

That's what happens to teams so dependent on 3 pt shooting. And today they shot 17% (5/29) from 3.

amazing ... Latvians managed to lose their 1/4 place by showing by far their most atrocious game of the tournament :( they had no right losing this game even with their pf injured by France - a team shooting in 7 games 56.4% from 2pt and 37.6% from 3pt, went 38.5% from 2pt and 17.2% from 3 point range and committed 15 TO two times in a row throwing a pass out of bounds?! Janicenoks shooting 15/24 from 3pt for the tournament went 0/4 while being wide open on couple of them, Bertans, Kisiks, Freimanis (all above 40% shooters) went a combined 2/13 from 3pt ... it was like someone had put a curse on the rim :D ugly, ugly, ugly way to go home.

First time Ukrania reaches quarter finals. Since independence, obviously, before several players like Alexander Volkov or Alexander Belostenny had won gold medal as part of USSR.

Krstic is really good. I feel like he's been underutilized in the NBA. Not many players have those moves, damn.

Krstic and young guns Bogdanovic and Nedovic(Warriors pick) destroyed French backcourt.Too bad Nedovic will be 3rd stringer in such a deep team.

Nedovic still has a long way to go. Someone as athletic as him should be able to get to the basket and set up teammates a lot more.

Kristic was doing good in the NBA before he got injured. I remember when he was playing for the Nets, he was pretty much their most solid player in the playoffs when Kidd and Carter were struggling.

I don't know what to think about Nedovic. The potential is undeniable, yet I have a feeling it won't work out. Probably because he'll be in an awful situation next year, and sometimes it's hard to come back from that.

Not sure what you mean by awful situation... if he can play he'll get playing time. Mark Jackson's not afraid to play rookies if they can contribute. We had 2 rookies start last year (Barnes, Ezeli) as well as rookie Draymond Green being a rotation player. I would say hes' in a great situation by not having the weight of having to produce right away on his shoulders.

I was thinking that they're already very good at that position, but maybe you're right. Besides I forgot that they lost Jack.

It's true that Jackson wasn't afraid to play rookies, but I think it was easier to find time for those guys. Nedovic has to have more responsibilities in offense to be worth it. And it can't be easy to earn the right to shoot when you're surrounded by the best.

Great game Croatia vs Greece, 2 OT after Greeks are out and Croatia classified to quarter finals.

^ I think it has been a pretty competitive game between Spain and Italy, Seems like both want to win actually.

Yeah, it seems both of them want to face Serbia in quarterfinals and avoid Lithuania. But that implies face Slovenia or France in semifinals, worst option than face Croatia or Ukraine, I think.

Personally I'd never play to lose, to choose rival. Later you lose who you chose and you seem fool...
