Weird 4th quarter for Spain in the last 3 minutes. Not saying they're tanking intentionally but some weird things:

- Calderon fouls 3 pt shooter with less than 2 minutes to go
- Rodriguez misses 2 foul shoots with 30 seconds left
- Left driving lane open for Belinelli (and didn't recover a "easy" rebound)
- Threw dangerous ally opp play with less than 1 minute left (although it worked)

Edit: Wow, Spain may have tanked. That defense on that final play was lolz.

Let's see what happens in OT. A loss for Spain would be good for LTU and Valanciunas

Eurobasket one year after Olympics is a champ with too many absences: Nowitzki, Pau Gasol, Gallinari, Bargnani, Kirilenko, Noah, Khryapa, Juan Carlos Navarro, Ibaka, Beno Udrih, Mozgov, Teodosic, Calathes, Koufos, Planinic, .... In my opinion, Eurobasket must be a four-years-championship, not a two-years.

Does Marc Gasol even try to contest layups from pg's?

Spaniards are going to lose against the Serbs. They'll just rotate Krstic - Katic - Stimac - Gagic on Gasol all game.

Orenga has to be the worst coach of the tournament.

To add, did anyone notice Gasol's effortless defense, keeping the paint open at the end of the game? And Spain's perimeter defense left ppl open.

How does Rodriguez go 0-2 from the line. Then in OT Llull goes 0-2 from the line, Claver makes 1-2.

Spain was down 5 pts with under 30 seconds yet Rodriguez kept driving to the paint for tough off balance layups.

It is going to be, starting from the '17 tournament. No '19 Eurobasket.

why would tank Spain? They fit better with Lithuania than Serbia. They are just that bad, with a very special mention to their coach

Gasol was playing with 4 fouls, I think. I imagine he's also tired as hell being that fat and playing 37 minutes.

Spain didn't tank, no matter what Gasol's defence looked to you. Why in earth would he play 37 mins if they wanted to lose? And besides, Serbia is a better matchup for them than Lithuania, cause their main man is Krstic, Gasol as a DPOY should manage.

Nope. Krstic, Katic, Stimac, Gagic can hack him all they want. The only tough defending big Lithuania has is Javtokas.

Yea, I like me some good conspiracy theory every now and then, but this losing on purpose talk is pretty silly.

Pretty much the only reason would be that 4th place will get a free day to prepare for semifinals (instead of having to play quarters and semis back to back), which I think most teams would prefer. But for that they would actually have to win the quarterfinals, so "choosing" the stronger opponent doesn't make much sense in that regard.

I wouldn't say they are bad this tournament, they are still good, just beatable. If anything, they've been too strong in the past, making the tournament boring to watch when you already know who's going to win it.
Missing their two best players in Pau and Navarro hurts a lot, that duo always was the most important part of their championship teams. Ibaka would help too.

Stimac and Gagic barely play and I doubt they will want to suffer their offense to let these guys play. Krstic won't hack cause he's needed on the offensive end, that leaves Katic, which I think will do well on Gasol.

It all depends on the 3pt shooting, both teams are inconsistent but dangerous and international play mostly relies on this. Pretty much why Rubio is so awful.

As an italian I say they didn't really really tanked, but for sure they didn't do everything possible to win it.. Too many mistakes in the end, poor effort. Spaniards have already lost on purpose in the past, to choose the competition, so.. don't know..

What about italy.. how do u like Gentile ;) ? Great talent.. he doesn't have the typical skills of an Nba role player, cos he is not a pure shooter nor a defender, but he is so talented, and physically strong.. Don't understand how he is at the end of the second round or even out of mock drafts at the moment.. He is so good and has such a great winning mentality.. tough guy, with character, swagger !
